What mask do you put on before you leave the house?

The “I’m fine” mask
The “Everything’s okay” mask
The “No one needs to know” mask

We all wear masks sometimes. But for children who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse, the mask can hide something much deeper: fear, hurt, confusion and pain.

These masks were created by children to represent the faces they feel they have to put on to hide what’s really going on.

At Hemat Gryffe Women's Aid, we provide spaces where children feel safe enough to take their masks off 💜

We were pleased to attend a women’s event at the Scottish Mahila Cultural Centre, hosted by our Board Chair, Mrs Brij Gandhi MBE.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with attendees, raise awareness of domestic abuse and share information about the support available to women, children and young people.
