Crossbasket House is looking for choirs and musical performers to help raise funds throughout the festive period to support families of babies and children in hospital.

A gentle reminder that our Wave of Light Service will take place next Wednesday, 14th October, 7pm to 8pm at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow. 🕯️

The Queen Elizabeth Maternity Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow warmly invite families who have been touched by pregnancy loss or the loss of a baby to join us. Extended families and siblings are welcome.

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available after the service. 💜

Our 2026 patient Christmas card has been designed by 15-year-old Eveline from Shetland, who was diagnosed with kidney failure earlier this year.

Christmas in hospital can be especially hard. Families may be far from home, away from familiar traditions, and facing uncertainty about their child’s health.

Whilst Eveline’s Christmas card acknowledges how much families miss home during long hospital stays, it also celebrates the support and care provided by Crossbasket House that help make those days a little easier. 🏡

We're delighted to share that Crossbasket House now offers complimentary treatments and therapies to families staying with us, in our new Wellness Room. 🌿

Thanks to ishga Skin Care, who have kindly provided a selection of their products, including essential oils and face masks to be used during facials, ensuring our families can experience a moment of quiet away from the worries and noise of their child's hospital bedside.

We have also welcomed back Mags to our team, who joins us with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the health and wellbeing sector. Mags has previously delivered these services on behalf of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity to parents and other family members over a period of 14 years.

During this time, she met and established meaningful connections with families who were coping with unimaginable situations in their lives. She fully understands the potential benefits that complementary therapies can make to recipients.

Ishga also invited Mags to join one of their training sessions, which helped her learn more about Ishga, their products and treatments. 💜

Mags shares:

“To provide therapies on behalf of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity in the past, and more recently being invited to Crossbasket House, is an honour and one of the greatest privileges in my career as a Complementary Therapist”.

Families like baby Grayson's.

Grayson was born early at 33 weeks and needed immediate surgery and specialized care. For nearly a month while Grayson was in the NICU, his parents, Paige and Jordan, stayed just steps away at Ronald McDonald House Louisville

"Being at Ronald McDonald House allowed us to be with Grayson in the NICU as much as possible," Paige says. "It was the biggest blessing to us on our journey."

15-year-old Bryce lives in Stornoway and, since the age of 3, has had several visits to both Yorkhill and the Royal Hospital for Children. Bryce lives with a cardiac condition called Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia.

Now, his big sisters, Lucy and Charlotte, are giving back in a big way by taking part in this year’s Great Scottish Run!

Lucy shares:

“Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity has helped massively over the years, from the Play Team helping to break up the day to the entertainers and hospital gamers.”

Living almost 300 miles away, the family found Crossbasket House an invaluable service. Lucy adds:

“The staff were amazing, a friendly face at the desk regardless of the time of day.

Being so far from home but having somewhere to sleep just metres from the children’s hospital is so convenient. Having the facilities to cook and do laundry is also great. All your needs are thought of.”

Jeremy, Jessica, and their three children stayed at Ronald McDonald House Atlanta for over 60 nights while their son participated in a feeding therapy program nearby.

Good luck to all our supporters taking part in the last Kiltwalk of the year, in Edinburgh today!

A huge thank you to Chloe Martin for completing the Dundee Kiltwalk in aid of Crossbasket House – raising an amazing £195! 🌟

In November 2023, Chloe’s Nephew, Dexter, was born with Gastroschisis, where his organs had developed outside of his abdomen and required urgent surgery.

Crossbasket House became a lifeline for Dexter’s family, removing the challenge of a 38-mile commute from home to the children’s hospital. Allowing them to be near Dexter’s side during such a critical time.

Chloe decided to take part in the Dundee Kiltwalk as a way of saying thank you for the care and support her family received while Dexter was in hospital. 💜

Chloe shares:

“It is important to me to raise funds for Crossbasket House because it provides an essential home away from home for families like mine. It relieves a little bit of pressure for the parents during some of the hardest times of their lives.”

Once a Ronald McDonald House Family, always a Ronald McDonald House Family. ❤️

While Harlow and Hadley were in the NICU, the Rardon family found comfort and support at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri. Now, the twins have made it a tradition to give back by volunteering at the House each year, even spending part of their birthday this year packing lunches and preparing a meal for families staying at the House.
