"Say You Served - It only takes a moment, costs nothing, and could help you access bespoke support and services. "

With only 13,000 of Scotland's 172,000 veterans currently recorded as veterans on their GP records, it is clear many former members of the Armed Forces may be missing opportunities to access the support and services available to them.

The next time you contact your GP surgery please advise the reception team that you served in the Armed Forces

This will help to ensure no veteran misses out simply because their service has not been recorded.

SCOTLAND'S VETERANS, WE NEED YOUR HELP

According to Scotland's 2022 Census, there are 172,000 veterans living in Scotland but only 13,000 are currently identified as veterans on GP IT systems.

We're asking veterans across Scotland to help change that.

If you have served in the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Reserves, or National Service, please:

✅ Comment "I SERVED" below.
✅ Check that your GP knows you're a veteran.
✅ Share this post so more veterans see it.

Being identified as a veteran can help ensure your GP is aware of your service and can connect you with veteran-specific support when appropriate. Let's show the strength of Scotland's veteran community and help make sure every veteran is recognised.

If you served, proudly comment "I SERVED" below.

Together, let's reach veterans in every town, village and community across Scotland.

Celebrating oor Sophia! 🥰

We're so proud of our Senior Support and Wellbeing Advisor, Sophia, who has received one of SSAFA's highest honours in recognition of her exceptional commitment to Glasgow's Helping Heroes (GHH) and the people we work with.

Named after SSAFA's founder, Sir James Gildea, the Global Gildea Awards are presented just once a year and celebrate outstanding contribution to SSAFA’s activities and values.

Sophia works directly with veterans and Forces families in Glasgow facing challenges including homelessness, mental health issues, debt, addiction, and family breakdown. Her leadership helps secure vital financial assistance for members of the Armed Forces community in their time of need - because no one should ever battle alone.

Sophia said: "I'm proud and grateful to have been recognised, and to be part of such a great team. This award would never have been possible without support from my line manager and the people I work with."
