Volunteer Spotlight

Meet Kiera. 👋 This incredible young person has blown us away with her commitment to volunteering and making a difference within her local community.

Not only has Kiera been very much involved in our youth work here at Voluntary Action but she is also a member of the East Renfrewshire Youth Rights Association and East Renfrewshire Youth Voice.

This summer Kiera was elected as a member of the recently re-established Barrhead Community Council. 🎉

The Community Council is made up of local volunteers who choose to act as a voice for their communities. Members can represent views on issues such as planning, community safety, local services as well as working with the council to help improve the local area.

Kiera is passionate about having her say! She recognises how important it is to include young people in the design and development of the support and services in her community and she hopes to encourage other young people to become involved too! Well done Kiera! 🙌

“Super excited to join Barrhead Community Council! Looking forward to working together to bring positive changes that benefits everyone who lives, works and goes to school here. Let’s make great things happen for Barrhead!” Kiera Armour.

We recently said goodbye to Sacha, who joined us in 2022 and has been a valued part of our team ever since. 💜

Sacha has made a real difference through her involvement in our volunteering and wellbeing activities. She supported Kindness Buddies and helped to recruit volunteers before taking on the role of Wellbeing Lead, where she helped people in the community get involved in activities such as chair exercises. 🌟

We’re so grateful for all the time, energy and positivity Sacha has brought to our workplace. While we’re saying goodbye for now, we’re sure this won’t be the last we see of her! We wish Sacha all the very best for what comes next and look forward to crossing paths again in the future. 💐
