On Saturday, 11th June 2026, the African and Caribbean Womenโ€™s Association (ACWA) Scotland was delighted to attend the Black & White Festival in Glasgow, where we had the opportunity to promote our heritage publication, New Shoots, Old Roots vol ll.

The event provided a wonderful platform to share ACWA's role in the community, the stories, memories, and experiences captured in the book, and to celebrate the rich contributions of African and Caribbean communities in Scotland. We were pleased to engage with attendees, discuss the importance of preserving community histories, and showcase the voices and journeys that have helped shape our shared heritage.

ACWA Matron, Dr Patricia Iredia, also had the opportunity to present her book, The Journey Goes On, to attendees alongside other featured authors.

Dr Harriette Campbell likewise shared insights from the African Caribbean Elders Scotland (ACES) publication, One Life, Two Cultures, highlighting the experiences and contributions of African Caribbean elders in Scotland.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about the project and support our work. Together, we continue to honour our roots while inspiring new generations to celebrate their identity, culture, and community.
