Our exhibition came to a close today with a celebration of community members and friends. A time for singing, embroidery, collating, creating, cake, conversation and copious amounts of tea. Thank you to everyone who has joined us online and in person this week. And so many thanks to the Binks Hub and Jean McEwan. We couldn’t have even imagined this project never mind brought it to fruition without working with you. ❤️

We’re open! What a great day yesterday. Thanks so much to everyone who came and shared in our space. We’re open 9-5 today and tomorrow, but your best time to come is 11-2 when Community Members will be there to chat about the work and share a cup of tea with you.

The boxes are all packed and we are ready (we hope!) for the big day tomorrow. Our digital archive goes live and our exhibition opens at Byres Community Hub.

We have loved working with the wonderful Binks Hub at Edinburgh University and the talented artist Jean McEwan on this project and have learnt so much from them. Come away in and visit! https://edin.ac/3Fmy4nl

Our Mutual Mentoring Project with GP’s at the Deep End came to an end today. 7 months of discovering connections, humanity and a rich seam of learning. What have you learned? ‘The importance of welcome. The fear that poverty brings. The pressure of being a GP. I have been inspired by my mentor and will take that away ‘

We were in Sunny Coatbridge last week making new friends from County Durham and talking with The Poverty Truth Network about what makes an economy work for all. Big thinking. Big thoughts.

A sunny Final Friday last week! Thanks to Corrinna at Rest and Renew Shiatsu for a beautiful session. Wellbeing is built into the heart of our work. We know well that activism without care is unsustainable and meet on the last Friday of every month for an Unwind session, often led by a Community Member. Looking after ourselves and each other with music, art, movement and laughter.

A proud week for Cath, longstanding Poverty Truther as the The Gorbals Community Pantry officially opens its doors. Dignity in food provision has long been a passion of Cath's and we are glad to have walked and learned alongside her on the path to change.

Cath says:
'Having been a volunteer with Poverty Truth and Nourish Scotland, going round Scotland visiting food banks and seeing the despair of people being handed food picked by others, having to get referrals to receive parcels - where is the dignity in that?

A pantry gives you choice to pay and pick what you want so when New Gorbals Housing Association were giving out grants from the Gorbals Idea Fund I decided to apply.

People in the Gorbals voted for this idea and today this is the result of those votes.'
