What a fantastic few days we’ve had at Poverty Truth.

On Friday, we welcomed Maureen Burke MP to our Listening Space, where we shared the issues currently bubbling up in our communities and had honest conversations about what needs to change.

Then on Monday, we kicked off our very first Family Afternoon! There was plenty of creativity, with playdough pizzas, flag-making, laughter, and lots of fun for everyone. 🍕🎨

We’re so grateful to everyone who came along and helped make both events so special.

Our exhibition came to a close today with a celebration of community members and friends. A time for singing, embroidery, collating, creating, cake, conversation and copious amounts of tea. Thank you to everyone who has joined us online and in person this week. And so many thanks to the Binks Hub and Jean McEwan. We couldn’t have even imagined this project never mind brought it to fruition without working with you. ❤️

We’re open! What a great day yesterday. Thanks so much to everyone who came and shared in our space. We’re open 9-5 today and tomorrow, but your best time to come is 11-2 when Community Members will be there to chat about the work and share a cup of tea with you.

The boxes are all packed and we are ready (we hope!) for the big day tomorrow. Our digital archive goes live and our exhibition opens at Byres Community Hub.

Our Mutual Mentoring Project with GP’s at the Deep End came to an end today. 7 months of discovering connections, humanity and a rich seam of learning. What have you learned? ‘The importance of welcome. The fear that poverty brings. The pressure of being a GP. I have been inspired by my mentor and will take that away ‘

We were in Sunny Coatbridge last week making new friends from County Durham and talking with The Poverty Truth Network about what makes an economy work for all. Big thinking. Big thoughts.
