The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, situated in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, exists to help our patients achieve the best quality of life possible in whatever time remains for them. Where it may not be possible to add days to lives, we aim to add life to days. As a registered charity, care is free of charge and we depend on the generosity of our supporters to raise the £3.1 million that is required annually to maintain our invaluable services. This week marks Hospice Care Week. It shines a spotlight on the vital work of hospices, and our amazing staff.
Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care. Nearly 1 in 3 people don’t get the care they need at the end of their lives.

With charitable income making up the majority of our funding, hospice care relies on our local communities being able to fundraise enough to continue our care.

We joined Hospice UK and our colleagues from all of the Scottish Hospices at the The Scottish Parliament last night to highlight our vital work and tell the hospice story to elected representatives with the shared message 'Don't leave hospice care to chance'

We are so proud to announce that our retiring Chief Executive Rhona Baillie has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement award from the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce business awards for a lifetime of leadership, inspiration and service to the people of Glasgow and further afield.

Our new Chief Executive, Manish, has been out and about getting to know our retail teams and seeing what goes on behind the scenes at our Hospice Shops.

Yesterday, he visited our warehouse to catch up with Chris and see the huge amount of work that goes into keeping our shops stocked, before heading to our Gorbals Hospice Shop to meet Shop Manager Emi and Margarette, one of our fantastic volunteers.

It’s been great to introduce Manish to more of the staff and volunteers who help make our shops such an important part of Glasgow’s Hospice. 💙

Today, Manish Joshi officially takes over as CEO of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

Over the past month, Manish has immersed himself in the life of the hospice, meeting patients, families, staff, volunteers and supporters.

Manish says: "I'm delighted to be taking over from Rhona and want to thank her for her service, commitment and leadership over a distinguished career. It has been a fantastic induction, and I'm excited by what we can achieve together in the years ahead, as we continue to serve the people of Glasgow.

"I'll be out and about, so if you see me, please come and say hello. I'd love to have a chat."

Rhona, our outgoing CEO, retires at the end of October. Until then, she will be meeting supporters and ensuring a smooth handover to Manish.

Today, staff from across the hospice came together to wish a happy (second) retirement to the hospice Chaplain Rev Leslie Edge. Leslie originally retired back in 2021 but chose to come back and support the hospice's patients, families, staff and volunteers for the past few years. We are so grateful to Leslie for his kindness, compassion and wisdom.
We wish him well for a long and very happy retirement.
