On Friday February 6th, we launched the campaign 'Restoring New Scots' Rights: fair housing for all'. The refugee-led campaign for new Scots’ housing rights was developed by CWIN's Human Rights Group, with support from Amnesty International Scotland and funded by the Corra Foundation Independent Human Rights Fund.

We'd like to thank everyone who came along to the launch, including members of Scottish Parliament, local councillors, representatives from partner organisations, and several community members who worked on the campaign.

You can read coverage of the launch in The National.

Today, CWIN is proud to support the launch of the ‘Restoring New Scots’ Rights: fair housing for all’ campaign - led by people with refugee status or who are going through the asylum process.

The campaign calls for urgent action from all levels of government to restore new Scots’ housing rights and highlights the domino effect of human rights breaches experienced by refugees in Scotland who are unable to access suitable accommodation.

The campaign was produced by CWIN's Human Rights Group in the last year, with support from Amnesty International Scotland and funded by the Corra Foundation Independent Human Rights Fund. Today, at our launch event, we will also have representatives from Shelter Scotland and the Scottish Refugee Council speaking!

You can sign up to become a supporter by clicking on this link.

Today, Friday 19 December, is our last day before the holidays — and we’re ending the year with a big Christmas Community Meal and Food Hub!

As we close for the festive period, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of CWIN this year — our community members, volunteers, sessional workers, staff, partners, funders, and everyone that supports our work.

It’s been a full, busy, and meaningful year, and we’re so proud of everything we’ve built together!

📅We will be back again in 2026:

🏢 Office & ESOL classes: Monday 5 January

🥫 Food Hub & Community Meal: Friday 9 January

We’re delighted to share that sprigg has been supporting the CWIN Food Hub with regular food donations over the past few months!

Fresh lunch boxes, falafel, baked potatoes, soup and bread – their help is providing good, nutritious food to more than 80 families every week.

The food doesn't just fill our fridges: soups have become the base for lovely stews at our Community Meal, and fresh lunch boxes help us offer healthier meals to our volunteers. Every item that comes through our doors becomes an opportunity to gather around, share, and build community.

Sprigg joins Costco, Locavore, and FareShare Glasgow and the West of Scotland as one of our regular food donors. Together, their contributions allow us to redistribute over 500kg of surplus food every week, helping tackle food insecurity and food waste across Glasgow.

Here’s what Tom from Sprigg had to say about the partnership:

“We're incredibly grateful to the team at CWIN Food Hub for the work they do with us. They are effortless to partner with and are helping us to avoid wasting high quality nutritious food. At the same time they are giving us the opportunity for a genuine connection to the local community that surrounds our Sauchiehall Street shop. With time, we hope to expand the partnership and further support CWIN and the community they work with. Thank you!”

Do you want to help make a difference? Organisations and individuals can donate food regularly or adopt a shelf at our Food Hub. Just contact us at [email protected].

Contributions like Sprigg’s help us keep families nourished and connected!

We’re proud to share a new community resource created by Tram Ngo through a student placement that CWIN hosted last semester.

As part of her Master’s studies, Tram joined the CWIN community and worked alongside community members with lived experience of the asylum system to co-design a handbook for new asylum seekers — written by the community, for the community.

The handbook offers practical advice, emotional support, and local knowledge to help people find their footing in Glasgow. Through sections called Brain, Heart, Hands, and Feet, it explores everything from mindset and wellbeing to language, volunteering, and places in Glasgow where people can connect and thrive.

💬 “This small handbook is developed by our dedicated community members, who believe that sharing knowledge and kindness is a powerful way to help each other.”

You can now read or download the full handbook on our website under the Resources section.

A heartfelt thank you to Tram and to all the community members whose willingness to help, creativity, and resilience made this project possible!
