Have you got what it takes to conquer Britain’s oldest path? The ancient The Ridgeway has been walked for over 5,000 years.
Can you follow in the footsteps of our ancestor drovers and walk or run this stunning trail over 50km or 100km on the weekend of 11–12 July?

You’ll journey from Lewknor to the prehistoric Avebury Stone Circle, with a basecamp at Wantage. Choose to complete the challenge in one day or two — and there’s 20% off the registration fee until the end of May.

Colleagues at SSAFA's Glasgow's Helping Heroes have welcomed Armed Forces Minister Al Carns to visit the service following a successful bid for transformative VALOUR funding.

Nearly £1million in funding, announced by Westminster in March, will support the continued development of the service and its life-changing work with serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

Operated by SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, in partnership with Glasgow City Council, Glasgow’s Helping Heroes provides a single point of contact hub for tailored advice and support.

Minister for the Armed Forces Al Carns DSO OBE MC MP visited the service to meet with staff and beneficiaries, and to recognise ’s role in the delivery of the VALOUR programme moving forward.

On Monday 20th of April 2026, Caseworker Alan Deans from Glasgow and Renfrewshire Branch of SSAFA popped along to the new veteran’s hub opened up by the Destiny Church in South Portland Street, Glasgow.

Adam McNee a veteran himself and member of the Destiny Church realised there was a need in the area and asked the church for permission to use their hub on the 3rd Monday of each month to offer a safe and welcoming space for veterans to meet, talk, have a brew and just enjoy the company.
Alan Deans, Volunteer Caseworker for SSAFA Glasgow and Renfrewshire Branch said “A great initiative where local veterans can access support and advice as well as access to training in the future.”

It is estimated that there are around 121,600 service children in the UK and every year thousands say goodbye to someone they love as they leave for deployment with some lasting days, weeks or months.
Being a military child is living with not knowing when mum, dad or caregiver will return home, it's dodgy wifi catch ups and milestones missed, but it's more than that — it’s a sense of pride in their loved one's job, it’s having friends from around the world and making new ones all the time. It’s surprise visits, it's community, it's belonging.

Being a military child means so many different things to so many children.

To honour Month of the Military Child, we asked children from across the UK, Cyprus and Brunei a few questions about what it means to them.
