Last week, some of our participants popped over to the Govan Shopping Centre to take part in the aerial activities hosted by Aerial Edge.

It was a lovely opportunity to try something new, build confidence, support one another and enjoy a bit of creative exploration. There were plenty of smiles, moments of bravery and a real sense of achievement throughout the day.

A big thank you to Aerial Edge for providing such a welcoming and inclusive experience, and for capturing these wonderful photos.

After our lovely celebrations last week, we wanted to announce our upcoming training!

We’ll be covering LOOP’s ethos, inclusive practice, and welcoming any interested volunteers to come along and meet us in person.

We’re a friendly bunch and we’d love to share our way of working with you.

Today our Saturday Ensemble continued exploring Scottish Mythology and Storytelling through games, movement, imagination and observation.

This week’s theme was simple: “I see…”

Together we explored what we notice about ourselves, each other and the spaces around us. Through movement, group challenges and creative exploration, participants worked collaboratively, shared ideas and created environments inspired by their mythical characters and stories.

After lunch, we enjoyed a fantastic surprise adventure with Aerial Edge at Govan Shopping Centre, where participants had the opportunity to try circus skills including hula hoops, spinning plates and acro activities. A huge thank you to the team for making us so welcome!

Back in the studio, we continued developing our creative ideas using movement, juggling scarves and imagination to build worlds, explore environments and think about what our characters might see within them.

More photos from our Aerial Edge adventure to follow!

Our volunteers bring so much to LOOP, but volunteering can also have a positive impact on the volunteers themselves.

In this short video, Andrew, Sophie, Rachel and Maryann share some of the benefits they’ve experienced through volunteering with LOOP.

From building confidence and making new connections to feeling part of a welcoming community, volunteering can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

What do our volunteers enjoy most about being part of LOOP?

For Volunteers’ Week, we asked some of our amazing volunteers to share what they enjoy about volunteering with us.

From building confidence and making friends to being part of a creative, welcoming and supportive community, our volunteers help make LOOP what it is.

A huge thank you to Emma, Marion and Poppy for sharing their thoughts with us and for everything they bring to LOOP.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Marion 🌟

Marion has been part of the LOOP Theatre family for many years and is a valued volunteer with our Monday Community Group.

When she first joined LOOP, Marion describes herself as being quite shy. Over time, through friendship, creativity and being part of the group, she has grown in confidence and become an important part of our community.

“I was shy at first, but now I’ve got my confidence back.”

Whether we’re exploring movement, creating stories, making puppets, sharing laughs or supporting one another, Marion brings enthusiasm, kindness and positivity to every session. We are incredibly grateful for everything she contributes to LOOP.

Interested in learning more about volunteering with us? We’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to find out how you can support our work and become part of the LOOP community.

Next up in our celebration is Emma. She told us she “enjoys working with a big group of people” and building relationships with all of the participants who come to sessions every week. Emma has been volunteering with LOOP for a little over a year and has now taken on a freelance assistant role at our project at Bealach House.

Thank you to the BA Arts with Community team at RCS for the invitation to the Self-Determined Learner Festival today.

It was lovely to catch up with Thom, who has collaborated with Loop as an Associate Artist, and to see some of the work being developed by students on the course.

A special thank you to Katie and Marion for joining me. They are fantastic ambassadors for Loop and always keen to support the wider arts community.

We enjoyed our visit and look forward to staying connected with the inspiring work happening across Glasgow’s community arts sector.

First up is Rachel who volunteers with us on a Friday. She told us she’s experienced a huge increase in her confidence since starting as a volunteer at LOOP and that she enjoys meeting up with people and doing all the things we do.

Thank you Rachel for your hard work and sharing your love of being creative with everyone at LOOP.
