Superstitions, stories and mythical creatures! We’ve been exploring superstitions as part of our Scottish Mythical Creatures project, with plenty of creativity and imagination along the way.

A few lovely moments from Saturday’s Ensemble session! 💛

We explored movement, relationships and storytelling through duets with our large scrunchie, before developing physical actions inspired by hunting, gathering, cooking and working together.

The Ensemble then worked in groups, combining their existing six-movement choreography with new survival actions and scenarios. It was wonderful to see how much they remembered and how confidently they developed the material into imaginative group stories.

We were also delighted to welcome Billi, our new workshop assistant, who will be working with the Ensemble as part of our Mythical Creatures and Heritage project. Billi’s role is supported by the Glasgow Life Arts Development Fund, and it is fabulous to have her joining the team!

We had a lovely Friday session exploring autumn and the changing seasons through movement and dance.

The gentler pace gave us time for some wonderful one-to-one movement with participants, as well as plenty of shared smiles and connection. A beautiful way to welcome the new season. 💛

For Scottish Learning Disability Week, we asked some of our members what makes them feel seen, valued and included.

Their answers remind us how much the everyday things matter: being listened to, having people who are open to your ideas, spending time with family and friends, getting out and about—and simply being welcomed into a space where you can be yourself.

A huge thank you to our volunteer Esther for filming and pulling this lovely little snapshot together so quickly.

We did much more together today and will share more soon—but for now, we wanted these voices to be heard.

Amy and I had a wonderful afternoon at V&A Dundee for the launch of The Room — a joyful, interactive sensory space co-designed by people with learning disabilities.

It was particularly special to see our friend Lewis Sherlock, now part of the SCLD team. It was genuinely exciting to see him up there speaking about the project alongside the other collaborators.

Lewis was one of Loop’s earliest members and appeared in our very first stage production 14 years ago. He went on to work with us on many productions, and we’re very proud of him — and very proud that he’s our friend.

We also visited the brilliant Design and Disability exhibition. It was fantastic to see inclusion, choice and disabled creativity being celebrated so strongly throughout the museum.

Huge congratulations to Lewis, everyone involved in creating The Room, SCLD and V&A Dundee.
