Glasgow Autonomous Space is an autonomous social centre that provides space for groups working to fight capitalism and other forms of oppression
DONATE: https://linktr.ee/glasgowautonomousspace It was a daunting prospect! A huge, cold and cavernous space. Over the last few years, with the help of hundreds of different people, we have converted into the space it is today—an ever changing, ever
growing, social centre full of established groups and endless opportunities for new and exciting things! We have built a library, herbal clinic dispensary, kitchen, wood workshop, print workshop, meeting space, toilets, a garden with a greenhouse and a shed. You can book GAS by checking to see when the calendar is free and dropping us and email to say when you would like it and what for. GAS was built for groups fighting oppression and prioritises the groups that don't have access to other spaces.
If you are interested in using GAS, don't be shy—give it a try! Who can book GAS? GAS was set up to be a free space for the activist community in Glasgow. Anyone engaged in work to fight capitalism or other forms of oppression can book GAS. How much is GAS to book? GAS is free to use for grass roots groups. These groups always have priority in the space. Registered charities with funding, universities, arts organisations or other formal organisations are asked to make a donation towards running costs of GAS to support other users. We suggest a donation of £50 to £100. When is GAS available to book? View our public calendar to see what dates are available. There are a variety of spaces available so it is possible to have multiple groups meeting in the space simultaneously. Block bookings are possible. All evening events must be finished by 1am at the absolute latest, including clean up. What are the opening hours? Gas is only open for specific events and does not have regular opening hours. Check the calendar for more details of events and follow our social media accounts for upcoming events. How do I get in touch with GAS? Email [email protected] for all bookings and enquiries. Please do not contact individual crew members to book events or ask questions about GAS as decisions are dealt with collectively. What do I need to know if I book GAS? GAS is a space where people can run their own self-sufficient events and doesn't offer support for events, although we'll be around to chat logistics via email. When you book GAS you will be provided with the Space Hire Agreement which details all of the information you need to know to run your event. How do I get in touch in an emergency? In case of emergency please contact us on Facebook messenger
Are dogs allowed? Guide dogs and service dogs are always welcome. Companion dogs are only allowed in the space if all users are comfortable with dogs. Please check with everyone in the space how they feel about dogs before you bring yours in and always keep it on a lead as there is rat poison in the space. Will you promote my event? If you make us a co-host on facebook we will share your event with our followers. If you provide us with a blurb about your event we can share it in our (unregular) newsletter.
