Back in March 2020 the Animal Health Trust (AHT) announced it was facing imminent closure. Since then the AHT have been working to save the unique work undertaken at the Trust.

Their Trustees have concluded that if the AHT is to continue, the only viable option is to revert to their core purpose of providing world-renowned veterinary and scientific research.

To this end, the AHT have sadly advised that they are proposing a major reorganisation of the charity which involves starting a consultation process with a view to closing their two referral practices: small animals and equine.

“Since the year 2000, British racing has invested £35 million in veterinary research and education which benefits all breeds of horses, not just thoroughbreds ”
