A story that could change the way you think about the impossible/what's possible 🙌

A new display at Riverside Museum tells the extraordinary story of Dr Gerry Hughes, who went from struggling with literacy at school to becoming the first Deaf sailor to sail solo around the world ⛵

Created with members of the Deaf community and centred around British Sign Language, A Quest and a Legacy explores determination, identity, achievement and the power of having the right support to fulfil your potential.

Hidden within the carpets are symbols inspired by Glasgow's crest, Scotland's famous Paisley pattern, Celtic heritage and even the library's music collection.

The UK AIDS Memorial Quilt transforms Tramway into a space for reflection, remembrance and connection. Made up of panels dedicated to people lost to HIV/AIDS, each stitch carries a story, a memory and a legacy.

Visit until 4 October and experience this extraordinary exhibition for yourself.

On the last weekend of the exhibition, you can join these special events:

We've been given an extraordinary gift by the internationally renowned artist Peter Chang (1944-2017). Our museums are now the custodians of his collection and archive 🥲

Well-known for his innovative use of plastic and other modern materials in sculpture and jewellery, some pieces from the collection will go on display at Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum later this year.

It is a privilege to care for, research, exhibit and celebrate Peter’s achievements, creativity and legacy. We'll let you know once you can see his work for yourself!
