Restore George Square

Restore George Square Glasgow’s principal public space, George Square, belongs to the people of Glasgow not to pop-up bu

George Square existed as a park and greenspace for the people of Glasgow for over 150 years, however in the 1990s Glasgow City Council removed the majority of the greenspace, moved the statues and opened it up for business. The short-term financial benefits of allowing businesses and events to operate in such a high-footfall area are obvious. Glasgow City Council currently charges £1,243 a day for

businesses to operate in an area that was once greenspace. We believe that George Square was not the council’s to sell and if not rectified could cause lasting long-term damage to the City. Help restore George Square to the famous public park it once was.
