New Service

Cumbernauld Academy - CA1

From Wednesday 12th August we will be operating a new service that will run from Craigmarloch/Balloch to Cumbernauld Academy.

This will service the following areas:

Craigmarloch Roundabout (Balloch)
Craigmarloch (Glen Fyne Road)
Eastfield Road (past Cumbernauld Primary)
Carrickstone (around the loop)
Westerwood (St Andrew's Drive)
The Village (turning circle)
Kildrum Road
Cumbernauld Academy

This new service has been created to try and fill the gap left by the removal of the NLC bus that used to operate. We have been discussing this with Cumbernauld Academy and local councillors for a while and hope that the service is well used. We will take U22 cards so ask that ALL pupils please bring them.

We currently plan to have a high capacity bus operating in the mornings and afternoons, capable of taking 69 passengers. We will monitor this as the service stabilises and have scope to increase this capacity in the mornings if required.

Does anyone know how to get from Craigmarloch to Craiglinn on weekday mornings and back again in the afternoon?
Bus timetables don't seem that clear or straightforward.

Antonine Shopping Centre car park update

Further to my post from yesterday about the planned introduction of opening hours restrictions at the Antonine Shopping Centre car park, I can confirm these will now take effect from tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd July. The car park next to the Tryst and the Link Community Centre will close every day from 6:30pm and will open at 8:30am each morning.

Bollards will shortly be installed to secure the car park between 6:30pm and 8:30am, and vehicles in the car park at 6:30pm will likely be trapped there until the car park reopens the following morning. Anyone who may be unable to remove their vehicle before 6:30pm should park elsewhere.

The Antonine Shopping Centre has responsibility for this car park and the introduction of these restrictions was their decision. They advise there are a number of items of works planned in the coming months and that is why the restrictions are being introduced, but they could not say if these opening hours restrictions will be in place permanently.

While the Antonine Shopping Centre management say they understand the concerns around the introduction of these restrictions, and the impact they will have on Tryst users, they have advised me they will not reconsider their decision.
