Boomerang Woodworking CIC

Boomerang Woodworking CIC Community Workshop promoting therapeutic woodwork, creativity and skills development using reclaimed timber.

Lee brought in a batch of shinty sticks he'd been working on at home and used our bandsaw to help shape and refine them. This was his second visit to the workshop, and it's been great to see him making the most of the space, tools and support available.

Whether you're working on a one-off project or bringing a whole collection of work-in-progress pieces, Open Bench gives you access to the tools you need to keep making.

We're looking forward to seeing what Lee brings in next! 🏑

As Volunteers' Week comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who gives their time, skills, ideas and energy to Boomerang.

Whether you've helped in the workshop, supported events, shared your knowledge, lent a hand behind the scenes, or simply shown up when needed, you've played a part in making this community what it is.

Boomerang wouldn't be the same without the people who choose to spend their time here. We love you all and we appreciate everything you do.

We had a great time visiting the Craftex Exhibition at The Trades House of Glasgow over the weekend and seeing the amazing work being produced across Glasgow's colleges.

A special shoutout goes to our volunteers Al, Kirsty, Hayden and Laurie, who all had furniture pieces on display. It's always inspiring to see projects develop from ideas and workshop sessions into finished pieces exhibited to the public.

If you missed the exhibition, you can still catch their work at the City of Glasgow College End of Year Show, running until 12 June.

We're incredibly proud of what they've achieved and can't wait to see what they make next.

We had our first Beginners Bench session last week, and it was great!

Everyone got to learn how to use some basic woodworking tools and built their own planter boxes to take home. It was brilliant to see people trying something new, building confidence in the workshop, and having a laugh along the way.

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a positive session.

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone who's booked onto the June session.

A friendly beginners session designed for anyone new to woodworking or looking to rebuild confidence with tools.

You’ll learn the basics of working safely in a shared workshop, using hand and power tools, and completing a simple woodwork project to take home.

We have a rotation of projects for you to try so each month will be different.
By the end of the evening, you’ll have completed a small project and gained the confidence to continue developing your skills.

Meet Lou đź‘‹
Lou has been volunteering with us for the past 3 years and was recently in the workshop building vent frames for the Glasgow Community Sauna. One of our favourite things is seeing the amazing projects people bring to life in the space.
