Day 7 - Swiss Adventure 🇨🇭

Our hiking day, and everyone did incredibly well!

Our first team set off early to hike the Lötschenpass, an alpine crossing that has been used as a trading route since Roman times.

Our second group took on the Golitschepass Cheesery Hike, which included a visit to a traditional Swiss cheese house.

Meanwhile, our third group headed up the Allmenalp cable car, taking in some truly incredible views.

For our final evening on camp, we headed into the village for pizza! 🍕 We also celebrated some very special achievements, presenting long service awards to Ann and Sheila, and Chief Scout’s Gold Awards to Will, Jameela, Thomas and Oliver—a fantastic and well-deserved achievement. Congratulations to you all!

A huge, huge thank you also goes to all of our volunteers for the time, energy and care they’ve given to our young people, making this trip of a lifetime possible. Last night, the Scouts gave a really touching thank you to James, with Finlay piping him into camp before presenting him with a signed Kandersteg neckerchief. Roisin then said a few heartfelt words on behalf of the Scouts to thank our leadership team. It was a wonderful moment and a reminder of what Scouting is all about.

This morning, everyone pulled together to strike camp, say goodbye to our new friends, and load up the bus.

Everyone has pushed themselves to try new things, meet new people and take on new challenges. We couldn’t be prouder of everyone - thank you to all of our Scouts for representing the 28th so brilliantly overseas. You’ve been a credit to your families, your leaders and the Group.

We’re now on our way home and will continue to keep parents updated on our journey. We can’t wait to share a full camp roundup once we’re home, showered, and well rested!

Day 6 - Swiss Adventure 🇨🇭

An unforgettable day at Brigerbad Waterpark! 🌊

From thrilling rapids and the epic mountain waterslide to the inflatable course and giant rocks to jump from, it was a day packed with fun, laughter, and adventure.

Day 5 - Swiss Adventure 🇨🇭

Our Explorers and Networkers headed up into the mountains by cable car for a full day of adventure, taking on a climbing course before putting their bravery to the test with a caving experience.

Back on site, our Scouts teamed up with the Pinkies (Kandersteg International Scout Centre’s volunteer staff members) for a day of team-building activities. They also took on Jacob’s Ladder, with a special mention to Finlay G, who set a new campsite record – an incredible achievement! 🏆👏

In the evening, we gathered for our 28th camp “fire”, where everyone got involved with some fantastic skits. It was a brilliant way to end another fun-filled day, with plenty of laughter and memories made.

We’re so proud of everyone for giving everything a go and supporting one another throughout the day! ⚜️

Day 4 - Swiss Adventure🇨🇭

A big day today, starting bright and early to catch the train to Interlaken for our Rafts ‘n’ Ropes adventure!

First up was white water rafting down the stunning Lütschine River, working together to tackle the rapids before emerging onto the crystal-clear waters of Lake Brienz. 🌊🚣

Next, it was time to take to the trees at Interlaken’s high ropes course, where plenty of Scouts (and even a few leaders!) pushed themselves out of their comfort zones to complete the more challenging routes. 💪🌲

After heading back to camp, we enjoyed a well-earned curry for dinner before spending the evening meeting and trading with those around us.

Another fantastic day full of adventure, teamwork and memories we’ll never forget! ⚜️

Day 3 🇨🇭⛰️

Another action-packed day as we headed off to explore the area around Kandersteg!

We kicked things off with flagbreak, complete with plenty of games to meet even more Scouts from around the world. Then it was off into town and up the cable cars to the stunning Lake Oeschinensee 🚡 First on the agenda? The alpine coaster, which was a big hit! We then enjoyed lunch by the lake, with a few well-earned ice creams too. 🍦

On the way back to camp, we stopped at Kandersteg’s outdoor pool – quickly voted by our Scouts as the most scenic pool in the world! There was plenty of impressive diving, water slides and splashing about. 💦

After fajitas for dinner, it was time to suit up and represent Scotland at KISC’s International Evening. Our Scouts shared Tunnock’s and tablet with new friends from across the globe, while George and Finlay got the bagpipes going and Isla and Will had the whole crowd joining in a ceilidh. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We’re incredibly proud of how our Scouts are representing the 28th and Scotland on the world stage. What a day!

Day 2: Swiss Adventure 🇨🇭🌍

The celebrations continued today with World Scarf Day, bringing together every one of the 1,857 Scouts from 49 countries onsite for a day to remember!

After a relaxed morning exploring the campsite, our Scouts got stuck into everything from international sports to taking a turn in the dunk tank. 💦

Making new friends is a huge part of life at Kandersteg International Scout Centre, and today was full of badge and neckie swaps, learning new ways to say hello, and chatting with Scouts from all over the world. 🤝

We rounded off the day with a camp-wide BBQ before gathering around the campfire to enjoy songs, skits and performances from Scouts representing every region of the world. 🔥

After months of fundraising - from car washes and bag packing to getting crafty with Christmas wreaths - the 28th Glasgow (Giffnock) Scouts have finally arrived in Kandersteg for our Swiss adventure! 🇨🇭🏕️

Our journey began with a 3am coach to Edinburgh Airport and almost 12 hours of travel into the Alps. First things first: pitch the tents and settle into camp at Kandersteg International Scout Centre.

There was no time to rest, though! We jumped straight into the Swiss National Day celebrations, with a special shoutout to Ray for proudly representing the 28th🇨🇭 We then joined Scout groups from across the world in a parade through the nearby village, all with the stunning Alps as the backdrop.

A pretty unforgettable first day… and some very tired campers by bedtime! 😴

An exciting week for our Scouts last week as we welcomed several new members who have moved up from Cubs.

To help everyone get to know each other and settle into Scout life, we enjoyed a range of team-building games at the hall and outside.

We later awarded the Cowan Trophy - which celebrates the best patrol of the year based on teamwork, leadership and participation. Big congratulations to the Swift Patrol, who collected the most points throughout the year and received the trophy🏆👏

🏃‍♂️ Wednesday Cubs Sports Day 🏃‍♀️

What a fantastic Cubs Sports Day! The Cubs had a brilliant time taking part in all the activities, showing great teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the evening. We finished with a fun and energetic wide game. Well done to everyone involved!
