πŸ†πŸ… Last week was Awards Week at the 135! πŸ…πŸ†

We had a brilliant time last Thursday and Friday celebrating our wonderful young people and everything they have achieved over the BB year.

πŸ™Œ On Thursday, we focussed on our Superhero Anchors and Juniors, who paraded their superpowers for all to see, with singing, games and lots of fun, topped off by awarding of badges, medals and trophies to very deserving recipients. Well done each and every one of you! πŸ‘πŸ…

πŸŽ₯ On Friday, our Company Section and Seniors brought us another episode of The One Three Five Show, featuring bakers, quizzers, sports reporters, truth-tellers (and some liars...) and a Captain's Takeaway. The Boys worked really hard to present the story of their BB year, and it was plain to see what a talented, engaged and committed group of young people we have in the 135!

πŸ† We were delighted to announce individual award winners and Best Squads in all 3 Sections, and to recognise this year's crop of King's Men - 6 in all - along with 1 President's Badge recipient. Special congratulations to Aiden, Milo, Seb, Jamie, Calum and Rory, and all the best to Alex as he embarks on his own King's Badge journey.

We extend grateful thanks to our Guest Mr Brian McAlinden, President of Glasgow Battalion, The Boys' Brigade, for your kind words and for the gracious way in which you presented our awards.

We are so privileged to work with all these brilliant young people week by week, and to see them grow and develop from their first steps in Anchors all the way through to the Brigade's highest award is the biggest thrill for the leaders. πŸ’™βš“οΈ

Two of our leaders and one of our Boys had a great day out yesterday on the Ayrshire coast, taking part in a new event - a golf day organised by a leader from 2nd/7th East Kilbride Boys Brigade on behalf of Glasgow Battalion, The Boys' Brigade.

Huge thanks to the organisers - we hope this will become an annual event. ⛳️

πŸ“£ Scotstoun's Best Takeaway - Winners! πŸ“£

Congratulations to our fabulous local takeaways who took part in our competition to find Scotstoun's finest nosh!

On Friday, our Seniors delivered certificates to the 6 participating restaurants. After sifting through over 100 reviews from our intrepid judges, each was awarded a special commendation and rated overall as follows:

πŸ₯‡ Gold: Neelim & Giulios Fish and Chip Stop
πŸ₯ˆ Silver: Magic Grill & Lucky Fortune
πŸ₯‰ Bronze: Fisherman & Shawarma Zagros

Best Overall Dish went to Neelim for their Butter Chicken Masala, which our judges described as 'delish'! πŸ˜‹

A huge thanks to all 6 for getting involved. We really are spoiled for choice on our doorstep, so be sure to give our local prize-winning establishments your support!

πŸ” Scotstoun's Best Takeaway 2026 🍟

We take part in lots of competitions as part of our BB programme, but this might be a first for the 135th, as we decided to run a competition ourselves.

The quest to find Scotstoun's Best Takeaway started last week with our Seniors going to our local takeaways to invite them to participate by contributing a couple of dishes.

Last night, they gathered in the entries for our team of 'judges' (our Company Section and Seniors Boys and leaders, including Guest Judge Mr Campbell!) to enjoy and rate.

We're really grateful to the following restaurants for getting involved:
πŸ₯™ Magic Grill
🍟 The Fisherman
πŸ— Zagros Shawarma
πŸ• Giulio's
πŸ₯˜ Neelim Indian Restaurant
πŸ₯  Lucky Fortune Chinese

The scores are currently being collated - watch out for news of the winners being announced soon and look out for the winners' certificates the next time you're visiting our local takeaways! Well done to all our Boys for running this competition, and for the clean-up afterwards!
