Massive thanks to the good folks from Arch Henderson (Haskoning) who came in this morning and made up seven starter packs for us that are being delivered this afternoon (currently being loaded onto the van in the picture) and tomorrow.

An absolutely huge help. We have had to make 65 starter packs this week, which has been an absolutely huge undertaking. Normally when we're making 50 packs in a week, we get a dizzy, so 65 has been a real challenge.

We are on the scrounge: we get offers of kitchen worktops from time to time, but its been a while and we need one for our new kitchenette area in our donations sorting room, so our staff and volunteers have a new appropriate kitchen area for having their lunches and washing their dishes.

Members of our van team have been fitting the units we need this week, but we are shy of worktop coverage. If you happen to have a old worktop kicking about or an offcut that is 165cm long, we would very much appreciate being able to come and collect it and put it to good use.

We are wondering if any of our supporters are plumbers and would be up for doing some work for us in our Magpie's nest shop. We need some pipes extended and a sink fitted alongside a dishwasher and an electric hand wash water heater.

We love that you think of us when donating items, we get to put them to great re-use both in our starter packs, and by selling items in our shops to raise funds. One thing that really helps us, especially when you are bringing in larger amounts of items, is knowing when you are coming with your drop-offs. Giving the The Magpie's Nest a call or message to arrange a drop-off day and time, really helps us to manage the amount of donations coming in at a time, and allows us to stay on top of the space we have, making sure we have the room for your donations and we can keep the floor clear and safe for the team to work in.

In an appropriate moment to celebrate both one of our volunteers and one of our recent donations, here is Captain Tim the Shredder, who has been volunteering at Starter Packs Glasgow in various roles since our early days in the 2000's. He is officially launching our new to us, professional grade shredder, which will be getting put to good use from now on by Tim whilst he shreds our old files. The ribbon was cut (shredded if you will) and a bottle of pop was gently tapped off the side and a speech was made. So massive thanks to Tim for all he does and massive thanks to the donator who gave us this shredder, which we are keeping for our office use.

Have a lovely weekend folks.
