It has been one heckuva week here at Starter Packs Towers, we've had a few issues to get ourselves on top of but our team have steamed through and we have still delivered 56 starter packs to households across the city. Our schedule is so full Microsoft are having to invent extra space in their calendars.

Massive thanks to the whole team for making this week go so well and help us keep on top of it all in spite of some less than ideal circumstances and keep supporting the folks we are here to help get settled in their new homes. A more fantastic bunch you would be hard pushed to find, thanks team SPG!

Massive thanks go to our group from WSP who were in today and helped to completely clear one of our donation bays and then stocked up our shop floor! It’s jammed packed with bargains now!

This might surprise you after yesterday's toaster poster, but in the last ten years we have also delivered 10,677 kettles to households across the city from 2017 to the end of July. Again by the end of the year, it will be around 11,500 with the current levels of demand and delivery.

It is so important to us to have a kettle and a toaster in our starter packs (we do swap out for other electrcial items when folks already have these). Often when folks are moving into their new home, there may not be a cooker in place yet, the kettle and toaster might be the only chance folks have of getting hot food and drinks in the house for some time.

Knowing how important that was made us change that pack contents back then to make sure we could give them to everybody. We regularly get feedback from our pack recipients and make sure we do what we can to ensure our starter packs are as apt as possible for the people that we are supporting.

Its incredible to think that over that last 10 years, we have delivered over 10,000 starter packs. This year alone we are on target to have delivered over 2000 packs in one year for the first time ever,.

But with over 100 individual items in every pack, that is a huge amount of household goods going out to support people starting over in households all across the city.

10,677 Toasters delivered from the start of 2017 to the end of July 2026. It will be around 11,500 by the end of December.

Thanks for the continuing support to help us do what we do. The demand on our service just keeps increasing.

Our The Magpie's Nest shop has a huge range of brand new and tagged school uniform items for kids of all ages. £2 each. Back to School never felt so good on your wallet/purse.

We've already got 55 starter packs booked in for delivery this week, with lots of referrals fresh in that also need to be scheduled in too.

This is looking like being the busiest week we've ever had.

If you can spare a couple of quid to pick up some shampoo or shower gel whilst out at the shops and drop it in to us at our office at 7 Harmony Row (G51 3BB), that would be a huge support.

2026 just keeps up the record breaking starter pack delivery numbers. By the end of July we had delivered 1206 starter packs to households across the city, supporting 2,180 people in our communities (1,377 adults and 803 children).

Thank you for continuing to support us in doing what we do. The difference you help us to make is massive to the people we support starting over in their new homes. Thank you!

Massive thanks to the team who came in from Social Security Scotland to volunteer with us yesterday and spent their day helping us sort donations in our donations sorting room in the back of our The Magpie's Nest () shop.

Its a huge help and much appreciated to have teams come in and lend a hand. Helps us keep on top of the never ending donations arriving, for which we are incredibly grateful. Thanks folks!

So that was July, we delivered starter packs to 167 households across the city, supporting 312 people in our communities (203 adults and 109 children).

Usually July can be substantially quieter with the Fair Fortnight and summer holidays, but it has remained very busy.

Thank you for your support in keeping us on top of these high levels of demand.
