🏃‍♂️📣 GO ELLIOT!

Tomorrow, our Marketing Manager, Elliot will be taking on the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run Half Marathon alongside Des Clarke, as one of Heart’s Half Marathon Heroes supporting Global’s Make Some Noise!

Over the last few years, Global’s Make Some Noise has provided incredible support to Glasgow’s Golden Generation, helping us continue our work with older adults across Glasgow — tackling loneliness, creating connections and ensuring people have somewhere to turn when they need support.

Their backing has made a real difference to our charity and the people we support. Now Elliot is pulling on his running shoes and doing his bit to give something back! 💛

👏 Please get behind Elliot and help him raise as much as possible!

🎉 WE ARE OPENING TOMORROW! 🎉

After a few weeks of disruption, we are delighted to say that the centre will reopen tomorrow! 💛

We have contacted most of our members today, although we did have to leave a few voicemails, so please feel free to share the good news.

There are still a few wee finishing touches to complete in our new kitchen, followed by a final deep clean, but we are ready to welcome everyone back.

And, most importantly… the fish and chips have been ordered for tomorrow! 🐟🍟😋

We cannot wait to see everyone back at the centre and get things moving again. Thank you to all our members and families for your patience while we have been carrying out the upgrades. It will be great to have the place busy again! 💛

Our facility upgrades may have temporarily closed the centre, but we are still making sure our members receive a tasty lunch and a friendly face at their door. 💛

Our team has been out delivering meals and checking in with members while the work is completed at the David Cargill Centre.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding. We cannot wait to welcome you back! Our team will keep you updates daily!

🏠✨ DAVID CARGILL CENTRE – RENOVATION UPDATE ✨🏠

Hi everyone,

Firstly, a huge thank you for your patience and understanding while the renovations to the David Cargill Centre kitchen are taking place. 💛

🔧 Unfortunately, we have experienced a further delay with some of the plumbing work, which means the hall will need to remain closed until Thursday 10 September 2026. I have only found this out in the last hour or so, so apologies that I was unable to contact anyone today.

If we are able to get the remaining work completed sooner, we absolutely will, and we will reopen as soon as it is safe and practical to do so. We will keep in touch each day with an update on progress, so everyone knows exactly where things stand.

🌟 THE WAIT WILL BE WORTH IT

The new kitchen is going to make a huge difference to what we can offer. Alongside the upcoming works funded through Changing Places, we are working hard to make the David Cargill Centre a vibrant, welcoming and accessible community hub. We are aiming to have an open day very soon, so watch this space!

🍲 MEAL DELIVERIES – MONDAY, TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY

We do not want our members who were expecting to attend next week to miss out on their meals. We have arranged catering for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and, where practical, our drivers will deliver a freshly prepared two-course meal to participants who were already booked to attend and who would like to receive one.

The meals had been arranged to be freshly cooked and packed by our caterers and delivered to the centre for distribution. 🚐 Our drivers have kindly agreed to deliver them to the addresses they would normally pick up from and drop off to.

📞 KEEPING IN TOUCH

I will personally be speaking with participants and/or their families, along with our staff over the weekend to discuss whether these arrangements. However, if anyone has any immediate concerns about the temporary closure or the arrangements for next week, you are very welcome to call or text me personally on:

📱 07708 682848

Thank you again for bearing with us while we make these important improvements. 💛

We will keep everyone updated each day and, if we can welcome you back sooner, we certainly will.
