Our parks ancient history is soon to be unearthed! 🌳🕳🔍🕳🌳 Very exciting times ahead! There are volunteering opportinities and an Open Day on the 29th Aug! Stay tuned for more updates throughout!

Digging Into A Queen's Park Mystery...
If you go into the trees behind the flag pole, there is a pleasant area surrounded by an earth bank. This is the Camphill Earthwork.
Despite investigations in 1867 & 1950, the origin of this large feature is unknown. Is it Neolithic? Iron Age? Middle Ages? All of these or something completely different?

Archaeology Scotland & University Of Glasgow will be carrying out an extensive survey and dig 24 Aug - 4 Sept to better understand the Earthwork’s history.

There are plenty of opportunities to visit or get involved. Site tours daily 10-3pm, Open Day on Sat 29th August, and contact the team (phone & email address in the poster below) if you want to volunteer (Get your hands dirty!)

Details in the poster.

A great opportunity to experience archaeology right on our doorstep, meet others and maybe turn up a key find to solve the mystery.
