Highlands-based artist Katherine Sutherland is hosting her solo exhibition, 'As I See It', at The Briggait alongside this year's Highland Art Prize showcase. Join us for the preview on 9 October, 5pm–8pm at The Briggait, or visit Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm until 9 November.

Katherine won the Highland Art Prize in 2025 for her work 'Sentinel of the Northwest', seen in the first image.

This exhibition brings together a collection of paintings inspired by the places, objects and moments that capture her attention. From the ever changing Scottish landscape to quiet interiors and intimate still lifes, each work is a personal response to observations and memories.

Join us on 9 October, 5pm–8pm at The Briggait in Glasgow to be among the first to see the showcase of a record 76 artworks submitted by 16 arts organisations from across the Highlands and Islands will go on public display as part of the 2026 Highland Art Prize this October.

Presented in conjunction with the Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail / The Royal National Mòd, the exhibition brings together work selected by organisations across the region. Most of the artworks will be available to purchase.

Now in its fifth year, the Highland Art Prize continues to showcase the depth and diversity of visual art being created across the Highlands and Islands. This year’s record number of submissions reflects growing engagement from local arts organisations and artists across the region.

Visit the 2026 Highland Art Prize exhibition at The Briggait daily from 9 until 17 October, 9am–5pm.

The artist community at Hanson Street is back again today until 4pm! Visit their studios in celebration of 25 years at the building, see work in progress and discover their group showcase exhibition in the Project Space on the ground floor. Delicious coffee also being served by Tasse at their pop-up!

This weekend, we're celebrating 25 years of artist studios at Hanson Street in Glasgow!

The creative community at the building – spanning several generations and countless disciplines – are coming together to host an open studios event on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October (11am–4pm), giving visitors the rare opportunity to see inside their private workspaces.

They are also staging an exhibition showcase in the ground floor Project Space, which will capture the variety of media being practiced at Hanson Street.

Tasse Coffee will be set up to serve you delicious hot drinks and matchas on both days as well!

Hanson Street is a former cigarette factory in Dennistoun. The building was officially transformed by Wasps in 2001 to create 77 affordable artist studios, which today serve around 150 artists and makers, including the Glasgow Ceramics Studio and Glasgow Glass Studio.

Celebrate the occasion with the incredible painters, glass makers, jewellers, printmakers, ceramicists, sculptors and more this weekend by stopping by to explore. Free entry and all welcome.

The countdown is on for the Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival next week! The artist and maker community will be welcoming you into The Briggait for a look at their private creative spaces, plus the Wasps team will be leading guided tours around this Glasgow landmark for anyone interested in the building's heritage.

Scarlett Erskine Jewellery is a jewellery designer and maker based at Wasps Artists Studios, Dundee Meadow Mill, Dundee. She has been living in the city for around 13 years after graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. She creates intricately textured jewellery, working with precious metals and gemstones to produce pieces that stand the test of time.

Alongside her ready to shop collections, Scarlett offers a bespoke jewellery service where she collaborates with clients to create unique designs and remodel family heirlooms into new pieces. She also runs jewellery workshops out of her studio in Meadow Mill, where skilled jewellers teach techniques such as sawing, soldering, texturing metal and setting stones.

The artist community at Meadow Mill, including Scarlett, is coming together to host an open studios weekend this 26 and 27 September, as part of Doors Open Days.

Drop by between 10am and 5pm on both days to explore this heritage building and meet the makers in their creative spaces.

Meadow Mill is a former jute mill in the Blackness area of Dundee, which today provides studios to around 100 visual artists and designers from across Tayside. It is the largest facility of its kind in the region.

Wasps has had a presence at Meadow Mill since 1986, when the first building at Forebank Road reached capacity and the artist community looked elsewhere for more studio accommodation. Today, across three converted floors of the building, there are 58 artist studios occupied by painters, printmakers, textile workers, ceramicists, sculptors, film makers and jewellers.

This year marks 25 years of Wasps artist studios at Hanson Street! We are looking forward to marking the occasion this October with a special open studios weekend and group exhibition, which will showcase the breadth of talent and creativity based there.

Included in the line-up will be painters, printmakers, ceramicists, designers, metalworkers, jewellers and more, with some being based at the building for decades.
