Mike Fenwick ...
Scotland's independence – How will it happen? - Part 1.

It is way back in 2020, 6 years after the Referendum - I asked myself this question - How will it happen - precisely how will Scotland regain its independence?

Asking that question, back then, gave birth to the Declaration of a Sovereign Scot initiative.

Back then, (2020) I think most people saw it would happen at an event, something similar, if not identical, to the Referendum event in September 2014. Even today I think that is how most people think it will happen.

And yet, all the evidence, back then and as I write today, is that the UK Government using the Scotland Act will prevent that event ever happening.

So – was there an alternative – instead of hoping for an event – could we establish a process? Not an event, but an open process which also addressed both domestic and international law.

A process in which all those who were determined to regain Scotland's independence could participate.

A process by which the people of Scotland - who are Sovereign - could declare the end of the union, and thereby regain Scotland's independence?

Scotland's independence – How will it happen? - Part 2 will follow.

Mike Fenwick ... It's 2021 for me. I started with a fact, what I knew without question - it is NOT the Scottish Parliament, it is NOT Westminster - it is the people of Scotland who are Sovereign.

That was me, that was my belief, but did the Yes movement also believe it without question.

More importantly, far more importantly, would they act on that belief?

Put simply, was there a majority of Scots who truly wanted to regain Scotland's independence - and if there were, would they ACT and DECLARE the end of the union?

It was the start of the Declaration of a Sovereign Scot initiative.

It was the start of a journey. In my next post I'll list all of the places where that journey has taken me, since 2021.

More importantly it is a list of the answers I received to that question.

Answers which have all been conveyed for the world to know, with copies kept for future generations to know

That journey all over Scotland was the first Stage in the initiative, and it also created the Second Stage.
