SCC Volta

SCC Volta Community sports (currently Football) group. Loosely affiliated to Scotstoun Primary. Not under the auspices of the SYFA or any other sports regulator.

The idea is to encourage freeplay where possible and to get kids outside, active, and interacting.

This Saturday will be our last session before the New Year. We would like to thank you all for your support and dedication to this fantastic community group. Without the parents and volunteers we simply couldn’t do it. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and good health and luck in 2022.

Great day had by our Volta boys and girls playing in the league at Po***ck Park this afternoon. Well done to everyone involved. The sun was shining and I think all of the parents enjoyed watching the games too. 🥰

It has been some week for Volta.

In conjunction with members of the Volunteering, Sports and Extra Curricular (VSPEC) sub group of the Scotstoun Primary Parent Council we fielded 2 squads of kids from Scotstoun Primary (P4/5 & P6 plus a "ringer" or two 😉) for great friendlies against our friends and neighbours Corpus Christi primary. All played in excellent spirit.

We have also now played 3 Sunday games in the Glasgow & District 2011 football league representing the Glasgow Red Star Athletic banner, a club which shares our values, culture and priorities. We are grateful for our first steps into the world of SYFA regulated football in which it has to be said the boys and girls have coped admirably.

SCC Volta very simply arrange informal small sided games on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings for boys and girls P4/5/6/7 and some very keen P3s. We have a loose Scotstoun Primary affiliation but many kids from other schools now come along. We are also keen to support freeplay footy and other sports where we can.

Get in touch if you'd like to join the Volta revolution. Viva Forza Volta ✊⚽💥

The Scotstoun Primary MUGA will be lit up again tonight (Tuesday) from 18.15 to 19.45.
Very relaxed, a few goals will be popped up but really it's more for under 12 kids to come out and freeplay and do what they want in a relatively safe environment.

If they want to skip, scoot, just sit and have a blether with their pals instead of playing cuppy then all the better 😁

Build it and they will come....The Field of Dreams aka the Scotstoun MUGA was all illuminated up like Vegas for a day/night freeplay sidey. Thanks to the boys and girls for coming out and road testing the lights. Will sleep well tonight, few skint knees but happy faces.

SCC Volta has been running for a wee while now and is loosely affiliated to SPS as an after school club. We do not operate under the auspices of the Scottish Youth FA or any other regulatory body.

We currently have a football group going out on Saturday mornings. Boys & Girls P4/5/6/7. But the group has potential to do more and go in different directions.

We secured a grant to acquire portable floodlights.

Tonight we will pilot them at the Scotstoun MUGA between 6 & 8pm. We will set up some small goals but really the idea is to encourage under 12s in the area (who are not subject to social distancing rules) to just free play outdoors and do what they want in a relatively safe environment at a time when the MUGA would normally not be used by others due to darkness.

Any decision to send the kids along would be your's as parents and at your own risk. If you would like to find out more in advance you can message this page.

If adults are bringing the kids along we ask that they remember to respect the current social distancing rules in force.
