Tonight, we were at the SCVO Scottish Charity Awards! šŸ†

We’re incredibly proud to be shortlisted and highly commended for Campaign of the Year for our Action on Advocacy campaign, which secured the right to independent advocacy for Care Experienced people.

A huge congratulations to Victim Support Scotland on winning the award!

While the awards are over, our campaign continues. Our focus now turns to making sure the Act delivers real change in the lives of Care Experienced people.

It’s Volunteers’ Week!

Volunteering has had a long history at Who Cares? Scotland and we wouldn’t be who we are without them. The sheer number of different areas our volunteers are involved in is remarkable, and without their support, Who Cares? Scotland would not be the organisation it is today.

So join us in celebrating our wonderful volunteers - thank you for all that you do to support Scotland’s Care Experienced community!

The Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill is now an Act of the Scottish Parliament, meaning it is now the law!

There will be changes made to aftercare, independent advocacy and the Children's Hearing System over the coming years. We will be working hard to ensure the Act is put into action and is properly implemented and resourced.

āž”ļøWhilst changes aren't made just yet, if you're Care Experienced or a family member of someone who is, you can get in touch with our Lifelong Helpline at 0330 107 7540 or emailing [email protected] to find out what entitlements and support is available.

We’re so excited to announce that our Action on Advocacy campaign has been shortlisted for the SCVO 'Campaign of the year' award!

We called for the statutory right to independent, relationship-based, lifelong advocacy for all Care Experienced people who need it. In March 2026, this right was enshrined in the Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill with MSPs from all political parties supporting it. You can find out more about the campaign here - https://www.whocaresscotland.org/action-on-advocacy/

Our campaign was built on years of work and thousands of voices calling for change. To all of our members, the Who Cares? Scotland team and everyone who has campaigned over the years, this shortlisting is for you. The winners will be announced on the 11th June.šŸ¤

The door-step campaigners are out in force before the election!

We’ve put together 3 questions you could ask when campaigners knock on the door.

But really, the key is just asking questions about what matters to you and what you are passionate about. You could ask about housing, education, lifelong support, addressing inequality… it is totally up to you!

šŸ‘‰ If you ask any of our questions, let us know how you get on!

We’re excited to announce that Kay McKerrell is our new Chief Executive!

Kay has worked for Who Cares? Scotland for over 4 years, leading our Advocacy and Participation teams across Scotland. She brings so much experience to the role both personally and professionally.

What makes this moment especially meaningful is that Kay is the first Chief Executive in our history with lived experience of care. This shows that having experience of care is not a barrier, but a bridge that can inform your work and help you achieve success.
