At the Al Gilani Foundation we believe strong communities are built through connection, understanding and genuine hospitality. Creating spaces where people from different backgrounds can come together, learn from one another and build meaningful relationships is at the heart of everything we do.

It was a pleasure to share the experience of Iftar and the meal that breaks the fast during Ramadan, and to give a tour of the mosque while spending time in conversation and connection. When people sit together, share food and learn about one another’s traditions, barriers begin to fall and genuine understanding begins to grow.

The evening was filled with thoughtful conversations, new connections and a spirit of openness that truly reflects the strength of our communities. Hearing the reflections from those who attended was incredibly meaningful and a reminder that sometimes the most powerful work we do is simply creating spaces where people feel welcomed, valued and respected.

Thank you to Eastend Matters for joining us and for the important work you are doing to support people in our communities. We look forward to continuing this relationship and working together to strengthen community wellbeing and cohesion.

Launch of Ghausia Kitchen – A Legacy of Service

Alhamdulillah, under the Al Gilani Foundation we are proud to launch Ghausia Kitchen this Ramadan, an initiative inspired by the timeless teachings of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA), whose life was devoted to compassion, generosity and serving humanity.

Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA) taught that feeding others, caring for the needy and opening our doors to the community are among the greatest acts of service.

In that spirit, we held our first community Ramadan Iftar at the Fred Paton Building, where over 300 people were welcomed and served.

It was a powerful reminder of what Ramadan truly represents:
a table that is open, hearts that are generous, and a community that stands together.

Ghausia Kitchen has been created with this very mission — to serve, to nourish and to bring people together in the spirit of faith, dignity and compassion.

This is only the beginning. Insha’Allah, through Ghausia Kitchen we hope to continue providing meals and support to our community, honouring the legacy of service that Ghaus-e-Azam embodied.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered, supported and joined us for this beautiful evening.

✨ May Allah accept this humble effort and allow it to grow in service to humanity.

As the blessed month of Ramadan begins, the Al Gilani Foundation extends warm wishes of peace, reflection, and spiritual renewal to all observing around the world.

This season also coincides with Lent for many of our Christian brothers and sisters, a time of prayer, sacrifice, and compassion. Together, these sacred periods remind us of the power of faith, generosity, and caring for those in need.

At the Al Gilani Foundation, we are proud to help build an interfaith bridge bringing communities together through understanding, respect, and shared acts of kindness.
May this time inspire kindness in our hearts, strengthen our communities, and bring hope to those who need it most.

Ramadan Mubarak to all who are observing, and blessings for a meaningful Lent. 🤍

Come and Be a Part of Al Gilani Foundation’s Community Tables 🍲

At Al Gilani Foundation, our Community Tables bring people together to share warm, nourishing meals and practical cooking guidance. We’re raising funds to provide halal chicken for the homeless and run friendly masterclasses and recipe sessions, like those we’ve previously held at Glasgow food banks, to empower our community with valuable skills and knowledge.

Every contribution helps, big or small. Donations can be as little as £1 or as much as you like, and each one makes a real difference. 💛

If you’d like to get involved, you can volunteer with us to deliver food packages to those who need them most. You can also spread the word by sharing this campaign with your friends and family to help us reach more people.

Together, we can feed, teach, and uplift our community, one meal, one skill, and one act of kindness at a time. We would love for you to join us on this journey.

CPR & Defibrillator Training Session 3 Complete!

Alhamdulillah, we had a truly remarkable turnout for our third CPR and defibrillator training session, delivered through the Al Gilani Foundation in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service, and hosted at the Al-Furqan Mosque Glasgow Community Centre.

When someone collapses from cardiac arrest, every second counts. In that moment, you, not the doctor, not the ambulance, not the hospital: YOU are the most important person in the room.
Your hands, your courage, and your quick action can mean the difference between life and death.

That is why this training matters. Today, our community stepped forward and equipped themselves with the strength and knowledge to save a life. The energy and dedication in the room were powerful and deeply moving.

As Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala reminds us in the Qur’an:
“Whoever saves one life, it is as if they have saved the whole of humanity.” (Qur’an 5:32)

This profound teaching is at the heart of our mission. Every person who attended today has embraced a responsibility that holds immense spiritual weight and immeasurable community impact.

Thank you to the Scottish Ambulance Service, Al Furqan Community Centre, and every participant who showed commitment and courage today.

Congratulations to all those who had attended three sessions of CPR and defibrillator training and received their CPR ready certificate!

You are building a safer, stronger, and more prepared Glasgow.

More sessions to come, Insha’Allah.

Yesterday, Co-Founders Tanveer and Zakrah had the pleasure of attending a mini-conference hosted by Saltire and Alam in partnership with St Andrew’s First Aid, brilliantly organised by Shabir Beg.

The event focused on raising awareness of CPR and first aid within ethnically diverse communities.

It was inspiring to hear from experts from Public Health Scotland, Save A Life For Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, and Police Scotland to see how communities across Scotland are coming together to promote life-saving skills.

A wonderful way to mark Glasgow’s 850th birthday while building stronger connections and celebrating collaboration. 💙

‘Because She Can’ is for every woman finding her strength again, reminding her that she can believe in herself, rise after setbacks, and achieve her dreams. It’s about the courage, resilience, and belief that already lives within her, and creating spaces and opportunities to rebuild, grow, and shine in every part of life.

Led by our Chair, Zakrah Gilani, this is more than inspiration, it’s a call to action, a beginning of what women can achieve when they truly believe: I can, and I will.

Please share and help amplify this message. Your share could make a difference to someone who needs it.

A historic moment for Glasgow! 🌟 Yesterday, faith and belief communities from across the city came together with Interfaith Glasgow to launch the Glasgow 850 Interfaith Declaration, a landmark pledge to build a more just, compassionate, and inclusive Glasgow.

The Declaration calls on all of us to nurture dialogue, celebrate diversity, tackle climate change, champion equality, welcome refugees, advocate for peace, and challenge prejudice wherever it exists.

At Al Gilani Foundation, we are proud to stand alongside Glasgow’s communities and Interfaith Glasgow in this shared commitment to unity and positive change. Together, we are shaping a city where dignity, fairness, and opportunity are realities for all. 🕊️
