💛 Caring about children's rights means caring about the rights of every child.

That's why we're speaking out against new rules that put thousands of migrant and refugee children in the UK at risk of poverty, homelessness and trauma 🏠⚠️

⚖️ Andy Sirel, our Legal Director, said: “What goal is punishing children achieving? We have clients who arrived as children, have immigration status, and are trying to get on with their lives, who will be in their 30s and 40s before they qualify for settlement. How does that achieve integration?”

The Government wants to cut child poverty & educational inequality. But at the same time it's baking poverty and trauma for children into its migration policy.

We're proud to join over 140 children's charities, social workers & lawyers in sending the Government one very clear message: every child's rights matter.

📣 It was a busy and meaningful weekend for the team at JustRight Scotland.

🌟 We were proud to mark International Roma Day alongside our friends at . We heard a clear message from the community: Roma voices matter, and their rights must be respected. Moments like this remind us why it’s so important to come together, listen, and challenge the discrimination that Roma communities continue to face.

✊ We also stood alongside Against the Far-Right Scotland and many community groups at a peaceful counter-demonstration in . Together, we raised concerns about the weaponisation of violence against women to promote racist and Islamophobic narratives.

🧡 We’re grateful to be part of a strong network of communities and organisations across working to uphold human rights, dignity, and equality for all.

Today is

🙌 We believe that every person deserves dignity and respect, regardless of race or ethnicity.

⚖ We need immigration policies rooted in compassion and respect for to build a fairer and more equal world - not policies that create further harm.

✊ Today gives us an opportunity to reinforce our message: we urge MPs and decision‑makers to listen to those affected and work towards a system that provides stability, fairness and safety for all.

💛 A Bittersweet Farewell 💛

Yesterday we gathered as a team to say goodbye to our CEO, Emma Hutton - someone who has been such a meaningful part of our JustRight Scotland family.

✊ Emma has been at the heart of our journey: helping us grow from a small start‑up into a nationally and internationally respected human rights organisation. She strengthened our partnerships, championed our values, and guided us through challenges with optimism, compassion, and a deep belief in the power of justice.

🌟 We’re incredibly grateful for everything she’s brought to JustRight Scotland - Her optimism, her belief in people, and her commitment to justice shaped not just our work, but our culture and our confidence as a team.

🫶 Yesterday gave us the chance to share memories, ideas, and heartfelt thanks as we wished her well for the next chapter.

Thank you, Emma 🧡

Delighted to have contributed to such a fantastic report! 🌟

🎉News just dropped for anyone passionate about children's human rights!

We are delighted to share with you our new State of Children’s Rights Report 2026. This year’s report is dedicated to exploring how organisations across Scotland are taking forward a children’s human rights approach in their work, in the hope of sharing learning and ideas. Structured around the five principles of a children’s human rights approach – embedding, equality and non-discrimination, empowerment, participation and accountability – the report is a practical resource to help Scotland’s workforce ensure they respect, protect and fulfil children’s rights.

The report is designed to be used as a practical and ongoing reference tool. By using the Contents page, readers can navigate directly to areas of interest, whether exploring the principles of a children’s human rights approach, learning from case studies, or accessing reflections and top tips on implementing children’s rights. Case studies span public bodies, third sector organisations and community groups, providing insight into how a children’s human rights approach can look practically in a range of contexts – including early learning and childcare settings, child protection, youth justice, healthcare, family support, and local authority planning.

Thank you to the organisations who submitted case studies for inclusion in this year’s State of Children’s Rights Report.
