Springburn Winter Gardens Trust

Springburn Winter Gardens Trust Springburn Winter Gardens Trust is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Scottish Charity Our charity number is: SC044954.

The Winter Gardens was built in Springburn Park by Glasgow Corporation in 1899-1900, as a condition of accepting a Β£12,000 donation from local locomotive magnate Sir Hugh Reid, of the Hyde Park Locomotive Works, which had financed the construction of the (now recently demolished) Springburn Public Halls. Much loved by generations of Springburn residents for its displays of exotic plants, concerts

and exhibitions the structure has lain derelict since the 1980s. Please support Springburn Winter Gardens Trust in its aims to restore this beautiful A listed gem in its wonderful setting for future generations. Follow us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/SpringburnWG

We just want to say a huge thank you to the organisations who have helped us get to this point with the Springburn Winter Gardens πŸ’š

Support from the The Architectural Heritage Fund and the The National Lottery Community Fund has made a real difference. These are amongst other funders that have supported the engagement and project development over a number of years.

Their backing has helped us move from ideas and early plans into real action.

This hasn’t just been about funding a building – it’s been about supporting people, listening to the community, and building confidence that the Winter Gardens can once again be a space for everyone.

We’re so grateful for their support, and for everyone in the community who has been part of the journey so far.

There’s still more to come – but this is a big step forward, and we couldn’t have done it without you all.

Thank-you for all the support, we look forward to working with everyone on the future of the Springburn Winter Gardens !

We are absolutely delighted with the recent funding announcement, which marks a major step towards carrying out the essential works needed to bring the Springburn Winter Gardens back into community use.

For so many people, this isn’t just a building β€” it’s a place full of memories, from childhood visits with family to moments of peace in the park. We’ve heard time and again that β€œit breaks my heart to see it like this” β€” but also that people can clearly see what it could become: a living, thriving space at the heart of Springburn once again.

Alongside the capital works, we’ve launched a live Crowdfunder to support the next phase of the journey β€” putting the community at the centre of what happens next. This will help us create opportunities for people to get involved, share ideas, and shape the future of the Winter Gardens as a space for nature, creativity, and connection.

There is a huge amount of energy locally, with people saying they are β€œready to help in any way” and wanting to be part of bringing the building β€œback to its former glory” β€” not just as it was, but as something new for future generations.
