🧏‍♂️ A great opportunity for NHS staff - Learn basic British Sign Language (BSL).

NHSGGC staff can register for a six-week basic BSL course starting the week beginning 19 October 2026, with classes at Stobhill, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The course helps staff develop basic signing skills and confidence when communicating with Deaf BSL users. A few places remain, particularly at Stobhill.

🙋🏻‍♀️ October is World Menopause Awareness Month

As the UK's largest female organisation, UNISON members and reps work every day to promote and empower women.

In many cases, a woman's experience of menopause may be covered by the 2010 equality act and can have a significant impact on her ability to work free of discomfort, discrimination or judgement.

‼️ Today, Glasgow City's Integrated Joint Board will consider huge cuts and service removals for Glasgow's Complex Needs Service and Enhanced Drug Treatment Services.

This, on the same day that the BBC have published the following findings - noting that Scotland's drug deaths continue to rise sharply.

To make cuts to drug treatment services amid such an unprecedented, European leading crisis would be utterly shameful.

Glaswegians will suffer the consequences of decisions like these for decades to come and will never forget those who made such decisions - our branch urges Glasgow City IJB to strongly consider the damage that cutting these services will have.

These are not numbers on a page, these are lives on the line.
