What a day at The Calling in Glasgow!

At Tearfund we’re excited about seeing local leaders around the world equipped to use their God-given gifts and talents to bring lasting change.

Today it was so good to see so many familiar faces, meet many new people and have conversations with others who are passionate about faith, justice and seeing lives transformed.

And what a line-up of speakers too! We came away encouraged, challenged and grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a brilliant day.

Thanks to everyone involved in organising this event and all who stopped by the Tearfund Scotland stand and took the time to chat. It was a joy to see you!

Your support is helping communities create lasting change.

This year, you’ve helped 19,384 local churches to improve their communities, 814 church groups and networks to start community improvement programmes, and 185 schools to train church leaders in the Transforming Communities approach.

But these numbers are really about people.
Through Transforming Communities, local churches help people identify their most pressing needs and recognise the skills and resources they already have to respond.

Please join us in praying for Nepal. 🙏

Flooding has brought loss and displacement to communities including Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, while the threat of further heavy rain is bringing continued concern about floods and landslides.

We pray for families who are grieving and searching for loved ones, for people who have been displaced, and for children and vulnerable people affected by the crisis.

We also pray for local partners and emergency teams working to reach communities with essential support.
God, bring comfort, protection and hope to the people of Nepal. Amen.

As we mark , Tearfund is joining together with and partner organisations to invite you to an upcoming hybrid event: Faith and Peace: Lessons from the front line in Colombia and Ecuador.

Join us to hear from inspiring peacebuilders in Ecuador and Colombia about the role faith leaders play across Latin America. We will explore everything from grassroots peace and reconciliation at the community level, to supporting national peace processes.

What a privilege it was to spend time praying for your churches this week!

On Wednesday, our Scotland team gathered for a team Sabbath day – stepping back to worship, pause, and listen to God together.

One of the absolute highlights was reading through every single prayer request you sent in. We held your congregations before God, praying for his strength, provision, and joy over you all.

Sometimes, the beginnings of change can be found closer than we think. 🌱

Magdalene and Samuel wanted a better future for their eight children, but simply finding enough food was often a struggle.

Through her local church and Tearfund’s Transforming Communities programme, Magdalene gained new knowledge and began putting it into practice.

What started with growing vegetables has helped the family earn, save and support their children’s education – and Samuel soon joined in too.

More than 5,000 people are missing in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts following the devastating floods in Nepal.

Search efforts continue along riverbanks, buried hydropower sites and flooded settlements, while displaced families urgently need shelter, clean water and medical care.

Our team in Nepal has shared three ways we can pray. 🙏
Please join us in praying for those who are missing and their families, for relief teams and local partners, and for search-and-rescue teams and government authorities coordinating the response.
