“Founded on Christ, the living stone, we experience the powerful and mysterious action of the Holy Spirit, and we believe that every authentic human effort to cooperate with him for the good will be blessed by our heavenly Father, in whom we place our hope.”

As we return to our individual dioceses in Australia, Europe, South Africa, Scotland, and the USA, these words of the Holy Father sum up what we have experienced here at our SPRED International Conference in Portugal.

Our SPRED International Conference has come to an end but we leave with renewed enthusiasm for our ministry to our brothers and sisters living with intellectual and developmental disabilities and gratitude in our hearts to all who generously shared their knowledge and experience.

We are learning and growing in faith together at our SPRED International Conference in Fatima. And there is more to come today.

A candle lit for SPRED Glasgow yesterday.

Today, the first full day of our SPRED International Conference in Fátima is a day of retreat. Before we start the talking and the doing we are spending time quietly with God, praying that our work here might bear fruit for our SPRED family and for the world.

The SPRED Centre is closed for the next week while the SPRED staff and our chaplain attend the SPRED international conference in Fatima.
Looking forward to a week of sharing, learning and community with branches of our SPRED family from around the world.
We promise to pray for you at the shrine.

So many people to thank for our fabulous ceilidh last night - the amazing Borland Ceilidh Band, everyone who came and danced and created such a great atmosphere, those who donated prizes and food to keep the energy levels up, those who sourced the prizes, who set up the hall, who staffed the tombola, who bought and sold raffle tickets, who spent hours folding them.
Congratulations to the lucky winners in our main raffle. The SPRED office is closed for a week as we travel to our international conference in Fatima but we’ll be in touch with the winners when we return. In the meantime we promise our prayers for all our SPRED family and generous supporters.

Lily the SPRED Centre dog is looking after the prizes for in house raffle at our annual ceilidh this evening.
Our grand raffle will be drawn tonight too and there is Glasgow’s best tombola at which it’s hard not to win a prize.
We are also excited to welcome the Borland Ceilidh Band for the first time.
