Lenzie Community Hall Limited is a Community Benefit Society (“Bencom“, registration number 9632). It's been set up with the aim of bringing Lenzie Public Hall back into use as: “a vibrant and sustainable community asset for the benefit of all” (our vision). Who we are
We’re a group of people of a variety of ages with a range of interests and skills who live in the local area. Between us we’ve co
nnections to a wide variety of local groups and organisations (from Lenzie Community Council, the Love Lenzie Association, Lenzie Fair Trade, Gavin’s Mill Community Project, East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service, Lenzie Tennis Club, schools and churches) as well as finance, fundraising, construction and engineering skills and trustee / committee / board / non-for profit experience. We’re each passionate about our community and bringing Lenzie Public Hall back to life for the benefit of all. How we got together
We got together (some of us having been previously involved with trying to get the hall back in use by the community, others new to the project) following East Dunbartonshire Council’s decision at the end of February 2025 to no longer refurbish Lenzie Public Hall and withdraw from its offer to lease the hall to the charity LEAP Ltd. Over the last few months our team has grown further. Us now and going forward
Having sought advice from external agencies, we’ve set up Lenzie Community Hall Limited to look at the feasibility of the community bringing the hall back into use and putting in an offer for the hall. We now have a volunteer Board supported by a working group of other volunteer team members. We’re currently looking to grow the BenCom’s members as well as expand our team of committed and enthusiastic volunteers. If interested in becoming a member / volunteering, we’d love to hear from you. Thanks to the community (and wider) for your support!
