The Scottish Pensioners' Forum welcomes the appointment of Andy Burnham as Prime Minister and trusts he will back the fight against the unnecessary poverty that is inflicted on too many older people and pensioners in Scotland. The current access to state support is wholly inadequate and is seriously compromised by the low tax threshold of £12,570. We urge the new Prime Minister to address this issue as an urgent priority and help lift our older people and pensioners out of this vicious cycle of poverty.
