We had so much fun and soaked up the community spirit this Pride organisation showcased.

Rainbow Ukes is about the joy of q***r ukulele, but we are so much more. We are about solidarity, community, support, friendship, trans rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, intersectionality, partnership and fun.

While in Belfast we raised money for . Thanks to for hosting our fundraising jam….and a big thanks to and for joining us for the fundraiser. Allyship at its best!!!!

Join us every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:00 for our jam. Our next 6-week beginners class starts in October. Come join our q***r community.

Pride is protest, not product.
Ditch the pinkwashing and join Rainbow Ukes and
Gallery for a people-powered Q***r alternative
We’re pushing back against profit-driven parades to prioritise
protest, pleasure, and pride in all our people, especially those
pushed aside by mainstream Pride: trans folks, q***rs of
colour, disabled q***rs, broke q***rs, elders, youth, and our
perfectly plural community.
All donations go to Glasgow Trans Collective - a fund to help
people that are Trans+ in Glasgow escape danger to life
The event will feature:
Delicious shared snacks & community cooking
Play zones: board games, ice-breakers, open mic and creative
collaborations
Quiet space for rest and reflection
Protest posters and art-making
Kids’ space for little revolutionaries
Let’s practice Pride with purpose & participation but mostly
Pfun and Pjoy 😀

Our own will be hosting the entertainment space and open mic…but she knows it is before the watershed so she promises not to be too naughty (too is the key word in that sentence!)

The Rainbow Ukes is made up of lots of talented individuals and collectively we make a joyful and inclusive community. We love making music together and supporting each other.

Sometimes you have to let an individual member shine….today is one of those days. Check out this new song written and performed by someone we are proud to have in the group. Check out her YouTube channel sometime too. All sorts of gems on that channel…. But this is the song we all need today!!!

A wee ditty about the mixed up world

Three years ago we were meeting in a church hall in Ibrox…a small group of 10 or so LGBTQ+ people learning to play the ukulele. We were just a small community group supported by
We were led by the amazing .saz. She’s in the 1st picture, multi-tasking as usual.

Since that time we have grown considerably.
We have now performed at numerous Pride events including:
Trans Pride
Dundee Pride
Glasgow Pride
MardiGla
West Lothian Pride
Pride Outside
Arran Pride

This year we are adding Belfast Pride and Bute Pride.

We’ve played at Usher Hall as part of the Edinburgh Festival (it was on the steps of Usher Hall but it still counts! And we were part of the official event). We’ve played in the Scottish Parliament and for Age Scotland. We’ve also played in nursing homes and for charity events.

Later this month we are playing INSIDE and on the main stage of Theatre Royal in Glasgow and also at the Burrell Collection.

We’ve just started another free 6 week beginners’ block (a few spaces still available).

We’ve done some amazing things, but the most important and best thing we’ve done is to build a community for ALL members of the LGBTQ IA+ community including allies. We are especially welcoming to our trans siblings and to q***r refugees and asylum seekers. We are an intergenerational group ranging in ages from 18 to 74.

We still meet every Wednesday but now in the City Centre. If you know a few chords come join us.

As the environment becomes more hostile to LGBTQIA+ people it’s even more important to join together for moments of joy and community.
