Fun, friendly group.
Out two week beginners class begins Saturday the 24th of October and lasts for 2 weeks. By the end of the 2 weeks you’ll be ready to join us at our weekly jam sessions.
We are starting to learn new songs for next year’s Pride season….so come join in the fun.

Yesterday, 11 of us ventured to the Isle of Bute, to perform at pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We had an absolute ball, marching along the seafront and performing at the Bute Yard for the main event

It was our second year at Bute Pride, and yet again it was a fantastic day. What a great crowd dancing and singing along with us, and a great turn out too

Thank you to the organisers for putting on such a brilliant day and looking after us!

And, we still have one more island left on the Pride tour 2026! Next stop, the Isle of Cumbrae for Millport pride 🌈

The first Pride was a riot. 🔥
Before the sponsors, before the stages, before the corporate floats — there was a brick, a bar, and a group of trans women, s*x workers, working-class qu**rs, gay PoC and gender non-conforming people who fought back.
We’re remembering where this began.

An afternoon of LGBTQIA+ history, music, open mic and defiant joy — built by the community, for the community. No big stages, no sponsors, no spectators. Just us.

Remember the Riot: Pride from Below

Rainbow Ukes and Transmission Gallery

The first Pride was a riot against the police, led by the people the movement now leaves at the edges. On the 18th of July we step outside of corporate pride remember and honour our roots. We celebrate with our community rather than participate in something handed down by sponsors or institutions.

2:00 - doors open with chill music

2:15 to 2:25 - opening remarks and welcoming.

2:30-3:00 - Rainbow Ukes Perform

3:00-3:30 - Katabatic Bloom (the funky disco soul ukulele band)

3:30-4:00 Open Mic

4:00-4:30 - Free time/Food/Socialising/Community Building

4:30-5:00 Open Mic

5:00-5:30 - Rainbow Ukes

5:30-6:00 - Katabatic Bloom

6:00-8:00 hang out, dance, play games, build community

This event is happening during Transmission Gallery’s Members Show so there will be art, music, dancing, community building and making connections

With the beginner workshops a little over a week away, meet your teacher, Adam!

We are so lucky to have Adam with us, he has a wealth of teaching experience and brings incredible enthusiasm to the group. You may have met him at one of our performances at prides, often playing the cajón for us 🥁🥁🥁

Adam has been a music tutor for the past 23 years working in various music schools and privately throughout greater Glasgow.

Adam is also a committed community musician, working with mixed ability groups and those in care through his practice: ABCreate.

Currently studying for his PhD in music and sociology, Adam also lectures in Commercial Music at UWS.

Adam’s approach to music tuition is one of flexibility, inclusion and fun, leading learners to positive musical destinations.

Want to learn to play the ukulele and meet other LGBTQIA+ people? Join our Beginners Ukulele Group for two fun, laid-back lessons where you’ll learn the basics of this cheerful instrument. Perfect for everyone just starting out or wanting to brush up their chords. Bring your ukulele and meet friendly people in person who love music as much as you do. Let’s make some melodies together!

Lessons are 2nd and 9th of May from 10AM to 12:00, hosted in the refectory room at Candleriggs, 130 Trongate, Glasgow

Rainbow Ukes are looking for a new home!

We have been at Transmission gallery for a few years now. But due to the recent upheaval at Trongate 103, we are sadly having to move.

We will STILL be running our sessions every Wednesday, free and open to all, but a temporary location. (If you are new and want to attend, just send us a message)

We are looking for an affordable and accessible space in Glasgow City centre to host us permanently, from 6:30pm - 8pm on Wednesday evenings.
