There is a UK-Poland child abduction crisis. The Government must respond decisively to Poland's failure to return abducted children to the UK. This should include withdrawing UK support - financial or otherwise - if they continue to fail to meet international obligations to return abducted children.

The recent BBC programme and news reports featuring a group of Mothers fleeing the UK to the TRNC has created huge concern across social media.

Several parents have made contact with us about the hurt and damage caused by "Mums on the Run: Failed by the Family Courts".

Above all other concern, we believe the BBC reports may place children across the UK (and particularly in Scotland) in increased danger of parental child abduction.

Our letter to the BBC explains why.

We have no criminal legislation and now new evidence shows no procedures are in place in over a third of Scottish councils to deal with missing or parentally abducted children.

These procedures should have been in place in 2014. The gov then said they would put them in place in 2018. Still waiting.

36 years of neglect! How many Scottish children have suffered unnecessarily as a result of parliament ignoring this abusive piece of legislation?

Of the 9 reports produced by the SLC in 1987, most were implemented by parliament within a few short years. Their 50 page report stating the need for complete reform of the child abduction legislation however was ignored.  Not only did this particular report quickly become the Commission’s
