Since the discovery of prehistoric roundhouses at the Castle we have been exploring more of the area's ancient past.
Did you know that until the 1970s Glasgow still had its very own prehistoric standing stone?
A Standing Stone, thought to date back thousands of years, stood just off Boydstone Road.
It was have one of, if not the the last surviving Neolithic monument in the city. Over the centuries it became part of the changing landscape, in 1972 it was removed during road widening works, with plans to re-erect it nearby.
Tragically, it was lost or possible "accidentally destroyed" while in storage. We've created this reconstruction of the stone.
Do you remember the stone before it was taken down? Perhaps you walked past it and have clear memories of what it looked and felt like? If so, we'd love to hear from you. Help us piece together the story of this lost landmark.
