Thank you to Allan from St John Scotland who came to help us set up our new defibrillator at Whiteinch Move On and arrange training for our team and the wider community.

This was an outcome of some work done with people who are supported linked to the Charter of Rights for People affected by substance use

Thank you to the Glasgow City Alcohol and Drug Partnership for highlighting our Top Care Inspectorate Grades in their newsletter

Glasgow Residential Rehabilitation Provision excels in Care Inspectorate Grading:

CrossReach Abstinence Recovery Service (Rainbow House) and Phoenix Phoenix Futures Residential Service in Glasgow have both recently been visited and graded by the Care Inspectorate. Both services have been long-standing providers for the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership and their specialist services are an integral part of the recovery options for people in the city.

CrossReach and Phoenix both achieved a Grade 6 in ‘How well we support people's wellbeing’ and 5's in all other aspects of the inspections. During the individual two day visits, the Care Inspectorate spoke to the staff teams, leadership, families, referrers, peer mentor volunteers and people supported within the service. This considered approach that measured feedback and assurance of quality practices shows that both services are continually improving and are led well with strong, knowledgeable teams. Although we are at the Abstinent end of the recovery support Glasgow offers, each service cares for people at their point of need and care plans focus on overall wellbeing using the Outcome Star to measure and work with people rather than a one size fits all approach to recovery.

Catriona McCabe | CrossReach Managing Coordinator " Wellbeing considers all parts of how we work with people rather than just support with recovery, so we are delighted to be recognised for this. Our Recovery team are exceptional and very open during inspections. It is great to see that transparency lead to a strong grade and acknowledgement of our consistent, caring approach to each other and the people we support"

David Brockett | Phoenix Futures Head of Operations "Wellbeing is built through holistic support - meeting people where they are and addressing their full range of needs. It is not one thing, but the balance of health, stability, connection and having a purpose that shapes their recovery. Supporting people means recognising the whole person, not just one part of their journey. We are very proud that the service has been recognised for all the care and support it can offer an individual within our therapeutic environment."

Our Whiteinch Move On have had a great residential week up in Kincraig 🌞

Swimming in Loch Morlich, out on the boat, fishing, walking, enjoying the fresh air and exploring the area.

Always a privilege to see the connections made and people's character develop when we are safe and free to live life without substances.

Volunteers week | June 1 - 7 2026

As we end volunteers week we thank you for listening to the stories we shared, just some examples of the people who give their time, experience and energy to help others.

Volunteering isn't an easy option, it's hard work and takes courage to keep showing up week on week doing the jobs that need to be done, not always the fun ones!

Volunteers week | June 1 - 7 2026

Our Megan tells us about her experience volunteering for us. We are proud of her development as she will soon complete her Masters while dedicating her time to supporting those she listens to ❤️

"My experience volunteering with CrossReach has been nothing short of rewarding. I started as a nervous trainee CBT therapist, unsure of what to expect, but that quickly changed when I realised how wonderful and welcoming both the staff and residents are.

CrossReach is a community of people brought together from all walks of life, and a year and a half on, I still feel genuinely privileged for the opportunity to play even a small part in supporting such a special place."

Volunteers Week | June 1- 7 2026

Caroline tells us why she volunteers for CrossReach and what volunteering brings to her life.

What she doesn't tell you is the amount of work she puts into working alongside our family worker. She hosts regular family events in the service to compliment the family support groups and was instrumental in organising our family fun day on Saturday ❤️
