After taking on the Kiltwalk last year, Steven from our Whiteinch Move On Service will take on the challenge again this April, this time joined by Lewis. The pair have already kicked off their fundraising and are getting ready to tackle the walk side by side.

Steven said: “After completing the Kiltwalk last year and raising money for CrossReach and seeing the sense of satisfaction Tommy got out of it, it motivated me to do it all over again. Just hope the weather’s better this year! I am looking forward to taking on the challenge again this year and I’m delighted Lewis is joining me”

Lewis shared: “I’m doing it because Steven told me about it and asked me to join him. I wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for you guys. My life has completely changed and I’d like to say thank you to CrossReach”

Public health alert for action: New benzodiazepines in Scotland

Public Health Scotland have issued an alert relating to benzodiazepines -

The benzodiazepine market in Scotland is changing. We continue to see a cycle where new substances appear, legal controls are introduced and the market adapts. Following the international controls of bromazolam in 2024, detections have decreased while detections of other street benzodiazepines have increased.

For this reason, this alert has been published to share information on:
- the changing types of benzodiazepines, including ethylbromazolam and clonazolam
- market changes, including new tablet types

Strength and contents can vary widely between tablets, meaning people may take more than intended, take a different drug to what they expected or experience adverse effects. Benzodiazepines slow down the body, leading to drowsiness and reduced breathing. This can lead to overdose, especially when mixed with opioids or other depressants.
