Heart of Gissing Education and Career Awards
Every year the Heart of Gissing charity offers young people who live or have parents in Gissing the chance to further their careers with a little help towards their education or training expenses. If you think you, or someone in your family, might benefit from such an opportunity, read on!
Under the terms of a Trust Fund which the Heart of Gissing has administered since the transfer of
the Old School to the charity, small amounts of money are made available every year for items like
books and equipment or activities such as field trips. In recent years, for example, one successful
applicant bought a laptop, another a camera. The actual amount of grant may depend on the
number of successful applicants in any year, the maximum being £500. Awards are not given
towards travel expenses.
Anyone under the age of 25 who is resident in Gissing or whose parents live in Gissing may apply.
All applicants are expected to explain in writing why they would like to receive the grant and how
they would use it. They would also need to provide evidence of attendance on any relevant course
of training and, if they are successful, complete the “End of Grant” monitoring form no later
than one year after the grant award.
The award scheme is a long-established element of the Heart of Gissing’s continuing commitment to
enriching the lives of people in the village and the charity strongly encourages anyone who is eligible
to put in for it. All applications, whether successful or not, will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Please use the contact [email protected] to obtain a short form which should be
completed and returned by June 30 2026.
