🏴‍☠️ The Schedule for Ballantrae's Smuggling Festival - Food, Drink and Live Music!! 🎶

Visitors to this year's Ballantrae Smuggling Festival will enjoy a fantastic programme of food, drink and live music events taking place at the Kings Arms Community Pub and Hub, 40 Main Street, Ballantrae, KA26 0NB.

🍸 “Tasting the Contraband” - Friday 28th August, 7.30pm – 9.00pm

Join local gin enthusiast Chris Saunders for an evening exploring five carefully selected craft gins. Guests will have the opportunity to sample each "contraband" spirit, learn about the botanicals and distilleries behind them, and choose their favourite. 🎟️ Tickets: £15 per person, including five gin tastings. Over 18s only.

🍽️ “Smugglers Supper” - Saturday 29th August, 7.00pm

Hosted by the Kings Arms Community Pub and Hub, this popular event features a delicious three-course meal served in a single sitting. 🎟️ Tickets: £23 per person.

Guests are asked to advise of any dietary requirements and pre-order their main course when booking.

🎻 “An Evening of Scots Music” - Saturday 29th August, 8.30pm
Enjoy a free evening of traditional Scots music with Davie Hunter and Jolyn Crawford, two well-known and highly regarded performers from Ayrshire. 🎶 Free Event

⚓ Merchant Navy Day – 3 September at 17:00 ⚓

A day to remember the Merchant Navy, Seafarers and vital Associated Services – and the many who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Merchant Navy Day is observed each year on 3 September, recognising the courage, dedication and sacrifice of merchant seafarers, particularly those who served during times of conflict and whose contribution is often described as the UK's “Fourth Service”.

In Girvan, we will gather once again at the Merchant Navy and Seafarers Memorial at the harbour to pay tribute to those who have served at sea and those who have no grave but the sea.

Representatives from the Merchant Navy, RNLI, Coastguard and Royal British Legion will be in attendance.

This special commemoration has been made possible through the partnerships and collaboration of the Merchant Navy Association, Girvan Harbour Master, Girvan Community Council, Girvan & District Attractions, Girvan and District Great War Project and Girvan Town Team – working together to ensure that those who served and sacrificed are remembered.

Roots and Branches: A New Community Textile Project Inspired by the Girvan Millennium Quilt
Girvan's Story and local artist Winifred Wright have come together to deliver Roots and Branches, an exciting new community textile project celebrating community, sustainability and heritage.
Inspired by the Girvan Millennium Quilt, the project will explore how the town has changed over the past 25 years while highlighting the strong community connections that continue to shape Girvan and inspire its future aspirations.
Are you part of a local community group or business and interested in getting involved? Or perhaps you're feeling creative and would like to help? Come along to one of our drop-in sessions to learn more about the project and sign up to take part.
Sessions will run from 11.00am to 3.00pm on the following dates:
