8 years ago Faye was unemployed due to long term illness & was unsuccessful in getting work. She had a dream forming in her mind while spending endless hours creating crochet goodies. The dream was for a full time crafting studio that she could share with the local community. Soon after she met Xtina of Medway Fine Printmakers who had just moved into INTRA, Rochester which happened to have the per

fect space for Faye to fulfil the dream. In less than 3 months from idea concept Unravel & Unwind opened up a public drop in studio on 18 March 2014. In addition to the wonderful drop in facility we also hosted a wide variety of workshops and classes. Seven years on and Unravel & Unwind has outgrown INTRA and is moving across Medway to the old Sewing & Knitting Centre in Gillingham. We are expanding on the drop-in and workshop idea alongside running the well established yarn and haberdashery shop. We hope to see you there.

Well done Mike for finishing the Bernice Tote Bag pattern. Mike only started to crochet last summer through our yarnbomb group and he has taught himself more crochet skills by using our tutorial pattern, that includes videos in addition to following our YouTube tutorials. You can find the bag pattern on our ribblr shop (same name as our physical shop) and other videos on our YouTube channel, which is also the same name as the shop.

We've just added three new folders to our patterns shelves full of vintage patterns dating as far back as the 1940s. These patterns are all £1.00 each. The majority are knitting patterns but I did see a crochet pattern in there too. So if you like the classic vintage style please do come in for a browse through and if you see any you like grab them while they're available.

This week we have a sewing related . Christina sews all her own clothes and this glamorous honeycomb rainbow dress is just one of her many makes that she has completed using fabrics bought from us here in Gillingham.

We try our best to have different prints on the fabrics from time to time by sticking what is known as dead-stock fabrics, that means we can’t always get the same ones again.
