People from a wide range of cultural backgrounds attended a meeting, which saw the birth of “ Medway Multicultural association. Mr Cole was the Chairperson and John Okomah the vice c

hairperson, also on the committee were Mrs Cole and Ron Hill. Some of the other cultural groups left to form their own group, but the group continued and renamed itself: Medway African Caribbean Association.

It’s taken me a minute to write this as I’m still feeling quite emotional about it! The production of Sarah's Story written and produced by Kate Mechedou of Mrs Bakers Medway Theatre Company that was hosted by St John's Chatham on Saturday was an absolute masterpiece 💙 from start to finish; the whole cast and crew were amazing! I was gripped from the moment I walked through the door, to be greeted by some of our elders and young people dressed in period costume. What amazed me was to hear how the two leading ladies had stories similar to Sarah, then to finish the evening with the Great Great Grandson of Sarah Forbes Bonetta, talking about his journey to finding out he is related to her.
Thank you to all Kate, the composer Matthew Fisher , all the amazing cast, community cast and choir, all the crew, to Arnold Anwoor for sharing his story, for Dr Mark Ledwidge for chairing the panel, to St Johns Church for hosting, to everyone who came, especially the Deputy Mayor of Medway Councillor Sharion Jackson and to Councillor Nina Gurung and Paul Cowell thank you so much! 💓
More pics to follow!
