Sunlight Centre Gillingham Sunlight Development Trust is a registered charity created to tackle health and social inequality through community development.

The Sunlight Centre, providing affordable meeting space, delivers support and services to Medway people, manages a digital recording studio and community radio station, and supports community development through activities, events and volunteering.

Did you know our Wellbeing Café service offers creative free drop-ins Monday thru Thursday, all run by volunteers? Monday is Knit and Knatter with Paul and Bev, Tuesdays is Sunlight Shared Verse our poetry group, run by Win and Rob, Wednesdays is Art for All abnd Thursday is Crafts for All, both hosted by Lou and Bev. It's a wonderful opportunity for local people to try their hand at something new and get creative in a supportive, friendly space . Our sincere thanks go out to Paul, Bev, Lou, Win and Rob!!

This Volunteer’s Week, we need to say a huge thank you to our fantastic Medway Women in Sheds volunteers! Every Tuesday you brighten the whole Centre, and make it possible for us to provide women in Medway somewhere to go, something fun and creative to do and emotional support every single week.

Wednesdays are an important day here at the Sunlight Centre, it's the day our long-running and much-loved Dementia Support Café meets in the hall. The Café is a service for people living with dementia and their carers, run by volunteers John, Beth and founder member and super-volunteer Win! Our thanks go to them, as does the gratitude of the many people who rely on the service for support, advice, and a beautiful weekly singalong!

This Volunteer’s Week, we want to say a huge thank you to every person who gives their time, energy, and heart to the Sunlight Development Trust, starting with our tireless cafe sunlight volunteers! Guys, ou brighten the Sunlight Centre, lift our spirits, and make it possible for us to provide hot/cold food and terrific coffee to the people of Medway every day of the week!

We're hiring!
Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. The 120th Birthday Oral and Art History Project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to create a therapeutic arts heritage project to improve residents’ creative health by celebrating the stories of people associated with our historic building, from former laundry workers to the campaigners who saved it from demolition, through collaborative creative activity.
