It was an absolute honour to celebrate the wonderful work of Medway NHS Foundation Trust's volunteers at a long service awards a last week.
We are so grateful to our army of volunteers, who have dedicated around 20,000 hours of their time to help us give high-quality, compassionate care our patients, their families and visitors.
Some 130 volunteers can be found in a variety of areas including supporting patients as dementia buddies, undertaking administrative and clerical duties on the wards, acting as guides, supporting our Chaplains, assisting in the Emergency Department, intensive care unit, pharmacy and library.
They also support our Frailty Unit at Sheppey Community Hospital plus The Medway Hospital Charity.
Volunteers also include our much loved Pets as Therapy Team, whose visits bring comfort, smiles and moments of joy to patients during their stay.
A number of volunteers, with service of more than 10 years, were presented with long service certificates by Frances Woodroffe, Interim Deputy Chief Executive and Tina Rowe, Lead Governor for the Trust at the special afternoon tea at Bridgewood Manor Hotel.
