🌟 We are absolutely delighted! 🌟

Last night, My Shining Star Children’s Cancer Charity had the honour of attending the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards 2026, celebrating the incredible individuals, charities and organisations across Kent who go above and beyond to support others, raise vital funds and make a real difference in their communities.

We are incredibly proud to announce that we were awarded the Peer Mentor of the year Award for 2026!🏆💛

At My Shining Star, we strive to provide a lifeline to families impacted by childhood cancer. Our support goes far beyond practical assistance. From signposting families to vital services and helping relieve everyday pressures, to arranging play therapy and trauma therapy, celebrating the often-overlooked siblings, and recognising the extraordinary bravery of children facing cancer.

Sometimes, our support is simply being there. Offering a listening ear, a safe space and someone to talk to when feelings become overwhelming and families don’t feel able to share their worries with those closest to them.

Childhood cancer affects the whole family, and we believe nobody should have to navigate that journey alone. 💛

To have this work recognised means more than words can express. This award is a reflection of everyone who helps us make a difference, from our dedicated team and volunteers to our wonderful supporters.

A huge thank you to Childrens Hospital Pyjamas for delivering FOUR enormous bags full of pyjamas to My Shining Star Children’s Cancer Charity yesterday! 💛🌟

These wonderful donations will be distributed to families impacted by childhood cancer, bringing a little extra comfort and warmth when they need it most.

We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity, and for helping us continue to support the families who need us. Thank you for making a difference!

💛 This week, we’ve been able to support six families affected by childhood cancer with help towards their food costs.

Thanks to the generous funding from the Furley Page Fund, we provided food vouchers to help ease some of the financial pressure that comes with hospital stays, treatment journeys, and time away from work.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, families should be able to focus on their child's care, not worry about putting food on the table.

These vouchers offer practical support and a little extra reassurance during an incredibly difficult time.

We're also delighted to share that our "Feeding Families Fighting Cancer" project is currently part of the Tesco Blue Token Scheme. 💙

✨ Support For Willow ✨

Willow was just three years old when her world changed forever. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in December 2025, she has faced hospital stays, isolation, painful treatment and even months in a wheelchair.

Yet throughout it all, Willow has continued to smile, make people laugh and show incredible courage. 💛

As a single parent, Jess has also faced the enormous emotional and financial impact of childhood cancer. My Shining Star was able to support the family with a financial grant, to help with travel costs and a huge box of toys for both Willow and her sister Heidi — bringing some much-needed joy during an incredibly difficult time.

Willow is now in maintenance treatment and has been able to return to nursery. Her journey isn't over, but her family are slowly finding their new normal.
