Gillingham Christmas Lunch

21/11/2024

A community Christmas lunch is returning to Gillingham this year to make sure everyone can join in with festivities this Christmas.

Alfred's Anne Philpott was one of the helpers who drove Shaftesbury residents to the community Christmas meal at the Gillingham Christmas Lunch at Milton on Stour on Christmas Day. And then Anne delivered turkey and trimmings to Shaftesbury locals who could not travel to the free, volunteer-run event. People attended the lunch for various reasons, as you'll hear from our extended report. "I'm here because I lost my wife three weeks ago," said Chris.

Listen to our report. Anne interviews the volunteers who gave up their Christmas Day to help, including the chef Vicky Adamson.

Wow, wow, wow, what a wonderful day with such lovely people, everyone enjoyed there meal and having a good sing song, Liz was playing her keyboard and people were really happy.
We did 46 takeaways and 36 sit down meals in the end and everyone gave positive feedback.
A big thank you to all my wonderful volunteers, we were a dream team, I'll keep you're details for next year lol 😆
A big thank you to all our wonderful businesses who contributed, such generosity even when the country is struggling.
Finally we did it, I'm so happy I could burst with joy.
Here's some photos.
And finally Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ☺️ ###x
