We’re a group of volunteers who started this messy play group after caring for children under 5. We saw how many little ones don’t always get access to the resources they need.
We also wanted to share something simple: you don’t need expensive toys to help your child learn and have fun.
We give our time for free to create spaces where children can play, get messy, and develop. Scooping, pouring, bending, picking up tiny pieces, squishing, squeezing, sticking, mark making, rolling, pushing, mixing, splashing, splatting... all of it helps your child grow.
And it’s more than just physical skills. It’s noisy, busy, and full of different personalities. By playing alongside others, children learn to share, listen, be kind, and build confidence in social situations, building confidence for school
Because learning through play shouldn’t cost a fortune, we are just covering costs at £3 per child or £2.50 if you have 3 children or more… which because we know how expensive it is now in this world this includes free unlimited tea or coffee or juice , plus a snack for your little people if you wish them to have it
So next time you are looking for something local to do, then come and find us on Tuesday Mornings at Greenside Methodist from 9am… session starts at 915am.
We recommend a change of clothes as we do live up to our group name “Messy Time”
