Tyneside Heritage Vehicles

Tyneside Heritage Vehicles We are THV. A group of people in the North East of England pursuing our hobby in bus preservation.

We are Tyneside Heritage Vehicles; a group of individuals in the North East pursuing our hobby in saving and preserving some of our region's vehicles. The group was officially relaunched in August 2014 under the THV name and together we have been able to develop a collection of locally important buses to the North East. At over 16,000 square feet, our shed currently holds buses which range from ex

-Tyne and Wear PTE vehicles to Busways and Northern. The group owns three of these vehicles, with the others being privately owned by individuals and housed at our premise. As you may know, bus preservation is a demanding and sometimes expensive hobby, therefore many of the vehicles are in the restoration process. However, with the buses that we do have on the road, including our fully restored ones, we regularly showcase them by attending some of the regions rally events, as well as holding our own open days. The vehicles stored at our premises consist of small midibuses, urban single-deckers and city double-deckers, with vehicle manufacture dates ranging from 1968 to 1994, showcasing the very best of bus industry in the 20th century and beyond. We also have various cars and vans stored at our facility that individuals have collected over the years - some old school and from the bygone era. Over the years we have accumulated an extensive archive of local transport material including; bus bits, signs, timetables, magazines, photographs, and promotional material.

If anyone wishes to have an utter nightmare of a landlord, please feel free to keep an eye on the development and rent an over priced building from them in due course from our ex landlord.
They have submitted a planning application as seen in the below photo.

This is why they forced us out without a second thought.

Otherwise, We hope everyone else has a very merry Christmas and equally as good new year.

After 14 years, I handed back the keys back to "our" Felling bus shed.

Does it leave a bitter taste... I would be lying if I said no.
Do I blame the landlord?.... Sort of.
own the building and the land and ultimately have the right to take it back irrespective.

For context,
Bizspace is not what it was when I signed the original agreement in 2010.
In the last couple of years bizspace was sold and is now owned by some foreign owned asset management company.
In my opinion, it's nothing more than a brand name only these days.

They obviously have a different idea and a different route of which they want to take with the building and the land.

Would I recommend them as a landlord?...... Absolutely not, but that's just me.
Everyone is different..... for some it may work and for me, I didn't work, clearly.

This is how it went down for me.....
I was informed that they would not renew my lease in January...... It became extremely hard work as they tried to give 2 and a half months notice to leave.
They would no longer answer the phone.
They would no longer answer emails.
They would no longer engage in any discussions.

I then had an offer of support from the brilliant Gordon forsyth who absolutely nailed it and got us so much more time.

The bottom line is this...... B
Bizspace don't care how long you have had a lease with them.
They don't care that you have been loyal and paid rent and bills on time for 14 years without issue, they just want you to go away silently.
There was no option for another building (bare in mind that this is company wide).

Do I expect to get any deposit money back?.....
No, I'm of the opinion that Bizspace will not pay it back just to add salt to my wounds.

If anyone wants to rent space from take into account that repairs are very long winded and very drawn out.

You can expect the rent to be massively inflated upon renewal.

If renting on the felling site, bizspace own the substation there, they charge around 50p per kWh. There Is no option to go with another provider.

The drainage at felling was horrific, again not much was done about it so when there was a heavy downpour, the place flooded.... Bizspace wasn't interested.

The site managers will most definitely and will absolutely tell you anything you want to hear.
When you ask for the directors contact details... You will be refused anyones details higher up so you are banging your head against a brick wall.

Don't get me wrong, I also realise it's a business. You would naturally progess any business but bragging that the felling site is the most profitable, it just doesn't sit well at all.

generally don't seem to have a good reputation on line going by the reviews and comments.
You would think they would look after their customers giving the fact they pay their wages.
Please bear this in mind should you choose to use this company to rent space from in the future.

As for , it's all but gone.
Our future lay in the hands of bizspace who just don't care.

When renting space in any industrial scale... Please choose wisely.

Personally, I would never recommend to anyone.

On the plus side, it's been a blast.
I've met people from all walks of life.
On the whole I met some amazing people of whom I can say will be friends for life.
Friends who I will absolutely see again for social events, general chit chats, future bus show events.

There is sadly those who are nothing but hangers on.
Those who were there for the good times, but ran away when the going got tough.
Such a shame as these people will be remembered more than anyone else... With plenty time off work, but no time to help at Felling.
Those who claim to be bus and coach preservationists yet can manage to get to plenty events and social gatherings with plenty photos to show for it.... Yet they can't turn up and help the very bus group they claim to be a part of, pathetic.

Fear not......, it's all been noted over the last few months and I cannot wait for the hangers on to start commenting or to ask for "free" lifts on buses to future events.

So many people are just about to get a serious rude awakening.

Am I actually bothered 🤔...., no, Not any more.

I've seen who has been there and I've seen who has done off and left me to deal with the lot.
There are people I put in the same category as ... Spineless, lazy and nothing but greedy f**kwits.

My circle of friends from here on in... Is going to be extremely small.
No more hangers on and no more freeloaders.

Tyneside Heritage Vehicles RIP...
Peace out....Lee ✌️

***all now gone***

The amount of time wasters we have had in recent times had been unbelievable 🤦

People complaining we should be giving stuff rather than binning it then we do offer stuff people seem to just want to play games and promise to turn up for stuff.

The very last items we have available are a selection of wheels and a set of coach seats.

To save us having any further time wasted by messers, we have now moved the said items, out into the yard area into neat piles so that we don't need to be there to open up for anyone.

So, anyone who actually wants a single double seat or even the full set, come and get them.
First come first served, there for the taken 😀

Anyone wanting wheels (most are 11R22.5) come and get them.

This is the final week of THV so by the end of play on Sunday 4th August, any remaining will be skipped and gone for good.

There is also a pile of wooden pallets should anyone require these also.

The yard is next door to VRS autosalvage in Felling Gateshead.

Well, what can I say.
We have over stepped out departure date, we simply didn't have enough time to clear the building 🤦
We now have a couple more weeks though to finish up and move out.
Whilst it still isn't the outcome we wanted, at least the landlord have allowed a little more time (they sent a fresh invoice for 1 more months rent 😂)

Such a waste after all these years but we're making good progress now and the building should finally be cleared within weeks.

The waste skips and the scrap skips arrived, been filled, emptied and dropped back off for the next round.

More buses have left for new homes as has some of our equipment.

Can we just say how grateful we are for the messages.

It's worth noting that the former Arriva Jesmond depot has been suggested many many times over as a possible new home for us.
Unfortunately, the £300k per rent tag means we will definitely not be able to afford it.

Also, the rather run down former Northern bus depot in Wallsend has been suggested many many times over.
It's not that we haven't tried because we have.
It seems that Shepherds (the owners) don't want to rent it out as we have rang them on many occasion,, only to be told that someone would either return our calls our drop us an email.
Neither of which, ever happened.

We now have no choice but to empty the Felling site and close it down by the end of this month (June).

The current building owners BizSpace (UK) Ltd would not engage in any discussions with us and simply want the building back and in their words.... "They want to review their options"

Saturday the 1st of June ...... which means we have exactly 1 month left at Felling, until we close the doors for the final time and hand back the keys.

Not a lot we can say now except that most vehicles have either been moved onto new owners or to scrap.
We had a great collection of North East vehicles all privately funded, shown around the region at public events for everyone to enjoy. Now a lot of these vehicles are scattered around the country or about to make a final journey to the scrapyard.

We tried for many months to find a new home as a group, but we simply could not afford the huge costs involved. For an Industrial building, the rental figures is just astronomical.

Not one single council in the North East, or any councillor, or museum were interested in trying to keep our local transport exhibits... local. We have also reached out to many large and local companies, including farmers, to ask for any buildings to rent - sadly the majority of these simplify ignored us with others promising to return calls that never came.

However, on a positive note.... a very big thank you must be given to Stagecoach North East who have offered to help by allowing us to park some vehicles temporarily across their North East depots which will be happening the next couple of weeks. A further very big thank you to everyone at Rowell's Coaches for offering us space to store our Scania Metropolitans 😀

Another big thank you is to Gordon Forsyth at Commprop-Solutions for all the legal advice and support given. Various emails between us, Gordon and our landlord have allowed us get extensions to our current licence agreement - meaning we had an extra 3 months stay at Felling. Without Gordon, this wouldn't have been possible so thank you. It must be noted that Gordon did this work on our behalf completely free of charge in support of what we do.

Lastly, with the vehicles that we do have left, we plan to have a farewell running day towards the back end of the summer once Felling is closed and we have tied up any loose ends - so please look out for the details on that which we will post in the near future.

Thank you to everyone who has followed our journey over the years. 💜

Time dwindles, enveloping us in challenging circumstances. Explored options unveil their impracticality and costs beyond reach. The approaching deadline intensifies our worry about what lies ahead. We pursue our interests as hobbyists, operating autonomously without charitable backing, depending entirely on self-funding.
