Congratulations 🎊 Edda

Meet your new Gateshead Member of Youth Parliament
Congratulations to Edda on becoming the 2026 Gateshead Member for Youth
Parliament (MYP). Edda has been a committed and passionate member of the
Gateshead Youth Assembly for around 4 years and has vast experience leading
youth sessions and empowering young people through her role as Youth Assembly
Co-Chair. Looking forward to taking up her new role as MYP, Edda said:
“I’m really excited about becoming the MYP for Gateshead. In my role with the youth
assembly I have delivered projects such as the Big Red Bus Scheme and I can’t wait
to get involved with more projects to help the young people of Gateshead.
“I will also continue working hard at projects like the Anti-Racist Zine Artists and
Project Phoenix: Green Gateshead, committing strongly to my manifesto promises
and helping to deliver Anti-Racist and climate change education to young people in
Gateshead”
Thank you, Edda, for all your work to help the young people of Gateshead to thrive👏

This evening we had a session to mark Holocaust Memorial Day with Lucy Adams (Vice Chair of GYC and Genocide & Crimes Against Humanity Lecturer). We learned about the stories of those who were persecuted and murdered, and how the Holocaust happened. We also spent time reflecting on what we had learned, and what we can do to contribute to genocide education and commemoration.

We recently had Lee Craggs, who is the Head of Sixth Form at Whitburn Sixth Form, do a fantastic session for us about UCAS applications, universities and apprenticeships! It was so helpful for our young people who are currently in sixth form and who will be looking for opportunities soon for when they leave.
