Birkheads Wild A charity in Gateshead. We help young people build better futures for themselves - using the outdoors We LOVE the outdoors.
(1)

A charity based in rural Gateshead, Birkheads Wild is a place for free range humans. We help young people build better futures for themselves - using the outdoors. Specifically we LOVE: wild camping, getting grubby, growing naturally, smelling of woodsmoke, 'leaving no trace', looking after wildlife, simple fun, learning more about nature, cycling, homemade stuff, going wild, being off-grid, and generally 'playing out'.

Dani's diary for Wednesday:

"Pottage !
A. has a keen interest in Medieval times and so far has helped make Pottage and Rose pudding, as well as comparing medieval times to the modern day. Today she challenged herself in more ways than one; not only making the dish, but trying it and evaluating it also."

Joelenes diary for Wednesday:

"Today’s 1:1 Forest School session with C was all about trying something new, building confidence and developing practical woodland skills.
With careful guidance and support, our young person had their first go at using loppers and a pruning saw — learning how to use the tools safely and responsibly while working with natural materials.
It was fantastic to see their concentration, determination and sense of achievement as they developed a new skill and saw the results of their own work.
These moments are what Forest School is all about: learning by doing, taking manageable risks, building independence and celebrating progress. "
