Tony & Jed 💙

At 92 years young, identical twins Tony and Jed have been best mates from the very beginning and have spent their whole lives side by side.

Both are loud, full of character and always have something to say 😂 Tony loves being outdoors with his binoculars and is never short of a joke… although the quality of them is sometimes questionable 😂

Jed has always loved a good old dance and still enjoys a boogie whenever he gets the chance 🕺

Throughout the years they’ve always stuck by each other’s side, from entering baby shows together to being evacuated together when they were young, and everything else life has brought along the way.

All these years later, they still laugh, bicker and look out for one another just like they always have.

You really don’t get one without the other. What a pair! These two are still very much a double act 💙👬

We asked our Wednesday Day Centre what they used to do for a living…

We’ll let you work out who’s telling the truth 😉

A fantastic day out to the Lake District! 🌿🚌

Despite getting caught in quite a bit of traffic on the way there (the roads definitely tried their best to test our patience 😂), we still had an absolutely brilliant day together and luckily the weather was on our side! ☀️

Our first stop was Kendal, where we had a wander around the market and enjoyed exploring the town. 🛍️

We then headed over to Bowness-on-Windermere, where there were plenty of shops to browse, delicious fish and chips to enjoy 🐟🍟 and, of course, some gorgeous views across the lake! 🌊

Lots of our group also took the opportunity to hop on a boat trip around the lakes, taking in the beautiful scenery. 🚤🏞️

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a fun and memorable day. 💕 Despite the traffic, the laughs definitely made it all worthwhile!

And of course a massive thank you to Rowells of Prudhoe for always making the trips an enjoyable one , we couldn’t do it without yous!

Until the next adventure! 🚌❤️✨

A little word of advice 💭🧡

Our MCST group have been sharing some of the advice they’ve picked up over the years and with plenty of life experience between them, they’re definitely worth listening to! 🥰

From the little things to the lessons that have stuck with them, we loved hearing what everyone had to say.

665 people have signed for a banking hub in Gateshead can we make it even more?

We launched our petition because we believe everyone should have access to local, face-to-face banking services, especially as more and more bank branches disappear from our communities

Because not everyone wants or is able to do everything online.

For some people, popping into a bank, speaking to a member of staff, withdrawing cash or getting help with a banking query is part of everyday life. When local branches disappear, that choice disappears too.

A Banking Hub would help keep essential banking services available to the people who need them most.

If you haven’t signed yet, please take a couple of minutes to add your name. And if you’ve already signed, please share the petition the more people who support it, the louder our community’s voice becomes.

Purpose: We, the undersigned, call on the local authorities, financial institutions and community leaders to support the creation of a dedicated Banking Hub in Gateshead Town Centre. This hub will provide older residents with access to face to face banking services, financial advice, and community s...

Friday madness in our Dementia Day Centre 😁

We’ve discovered Snapchat filters for the first time... and let’s just say our ladies were definitely kept out of mischief for a while as they played around with them all 😂

Sometimes it really is the littlest things in life that bring us the most joy 💕

💷 Making sure older people get what they’re entitled to.

Last year, our team helped older people across Gateshead access over £3 million in additional benefits. 🧡

For many people, that extra income can make a real difference helping with everyday bills, keeping homes warm and easing some of the financial pressure.

If you’re unsure whether you or someone you know could be entitled to extra support, get in touch with our team. A quick benefits check could make a big difference. 😊

🎶 And we would walk 500 miles… and we would walk 500 more… 🎶

Well, our walking group are certainly giving it a good go! 😂🥾

Last week they headed from High Spen towards Thornley Woodlands, with the choice of a 4-mile route or stretching those legs a little further with the 7-mile route to Derwenthaugh for those who just hadn’t had enough yet! 🌳👣

Fresh air, gorgeous North East scenery, plenty of exercise and, most importantly, good company along the way. 💙 And if you’re lucky, you might even spot a Red Kite or two! 👀🦅

Another brilliant walk with plenty of laughs and plenty of miles clocked up.

Well done everyone! 👏🥾
